Off-the-Grid: Bitcoin's New Mining Parternship

Australia’s Hunter Energy and the IOT Group formed a partnership to mine Bitcoin off-the-grid.

According to <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/business/the-economy/blockchain-to-get-behind-the-grid-in-landmark-australian-deal-20180409-p4z8j3.html">The Sydney Morning Herald</a> this is the first time a deal of this type has been ventured. It would bring direct access of wholesale electricity to Bitcoin mining.

The <a href="http://bitcoinist.com/coal-powered-computers-australia-to-reopen-coal-power-plant-to-mine-bitcoin/">Bitcoinist reported on the partnership</a> that foresees some added incentives including,  fostering broad regional innovation and the potential for a “Blockchain Application Center” located close to the power plant. It is worth noting that both companies have had their share of troubles, but the Australian government does not seem opposed, at least not yet.

The generator is planned for restart during the <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/business/the-economy/blockchain-to-get-behind-the-grid-in-landmark-australian-deal-20180409-p4z8j3.html">first quarter of 2019</a>.

the question I must ask: how do you think this may affect future developements in that field? and how can if affect bitcoin/blockchain ? I seriously cannot really predict consequences of this partnership

The biggest potential might be as a new standard. I.E. How will the government respond? What if the government sees this as much more lucrative than taxing and realizes blockchains mean inherently less government intervention? 

It was just noteworthy. One of those things to keep an eye on that is odd and could set a trend. And it is stuff that traditional economies consider real. Just look at that mammoth machinery. Hard to argue that the cryptoverse is entirely virtual.
