Nomis was created by Jonathan Sparks, an artist whose works are combinations of sound, fabrication, design and technology.

The beautiful and colorful Nomis was created to make loop-base music be more expressive. Midi sounds are chosen, played and looped across the instrument. The sounds are first displayed on the first light tower. Each sound is represented by different colors. They are then ready to be played through the octagonal interface at the middle. The performances are stored and looped by spinning the octagon. The loops are them displayed through the last tower which can be turned off and on for a dynamic composition during live loops creation.

It's great to see people pushing things forward. Some people demonize technology and innovation telling that it kills the past. But it's about how you use it. Developing new things develop your brain. Hidden talents of people would come up. The product seems like a labour of love and might end up being a niche movement with its own shows. This is a wonderful art and Nomis being able to represent music further in the form of lights makes the music more melodious and seeing it in through different lights gives you a more refreshing and peaceful feeling.
