BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!

Participation in the new Splinterlands Grand Contest, called ***Battle Mage Secrets***, is proving to be particularly difficult week after week, as today I had made up my mind to be able to tick off a useful battle to illustrate the combat mode scheduled for this week, which is, as we all know by now…

***Armored Up***

I started playing matches after matches, almost without interrupting myself, but my recently introduced energy percentage dropped more and more, and this blessed match, with *Armored Up* mode, didn't arrive, until I reached zero. complete exhaustion, I then started to sell some double cards, among those I had already maxed out, but I only got a few hundred DECs as countervalue, until I put a strong piece on the plate, which I will talk about in a future post, sold the which I bought another 10 energy points...

After a 1st unsuccessful attempt, on the 2nd, as in the previous weeks, I didn't fail the goal, so, finally, I had my blessed battle to attach to this post, but let's talk for a moment in more detail about the modality...

*Armored Up, let's raise the armor*

This combat mode provides that all the Monsters have an armor enhanced by 2 units, in such a way as to obtain a potential extension of their Life, it is a type of battle that is very appreciable when you find yourself, like another associated combat mode to *Armored Up*, *Lost Magic*, in such a way that you cannot use Monsters with Magic attack, otherwise there is a risk that *Armored Up* has a slightly more limited value...

***Analysis of combat modes***

Three combat modes, ***Target Practice***, in which all Monsters with Magic and Ranged attack acquire the Snipe ability, ***Briar Patch***, thanks to which all Monsters will have the Thorns ability , and finally comes ***Armored Up***, which we talked about just above, proceeding further, there are 19 Mana overall and only 3 usable Elements, Fire, Earth and Life...

I was just under 2,800 points, so all 3 Summoners I could use at 6th level, if I was beyond that threshold, I would have more uncertainties, because my Fire and Life Summoners are boosted at 8th level, but considering the limitation at 6th level, associated with the combat modes, I decided to opt for the Earth Element, going to deploy *Obsidian*...

***My formation***

With 19 Mana available, 4 of which are absorbed by the Earth Summoner *Obsidian*, I have 15 Mana left, to be distributed in the effective formation that I want to take on the field, I decide to place a low-cost Card in 1st position...

***Failed Summoner***, I chose this Card for several reasons, first of all it costs only 2 Mana, it has the purpose of making the opposing formation waste hits, but above all I assume a fairly massive use by my enemy , of Cards with Magic attack, for which *Failed Summoner*, thanks to its ability of *Magic Reflect*, can sap the number of Lives of the opposing Monsters, too bad for the fact that I only have it upgraded at the 3rd level, its significant cost has always distanced, at least for the moment, my project to reinforce this Card, to have optimal performance it would be necessary to bring it to at least the 6th level, but the price to shell out is quite high...

A very fast Card in 2nd position, to which I often resort, also considering the fact of a fairly low Mana cost of 5 units, I'm talking about ***Regal Peryton***, 2 hits per round of the game, which potentially at 3, using *Obsidian* as Summoner...

***Khmer Princess***, I don't own this Card directly, my copy is part of the starting Card pack, but *Khmer Princess* but often a key importance in my deployment even at 1st level, because always thanks to *Obsidian* she gets the 2nd hit per round of the game, considering the fact that it only costs 2 Mana, I couldn't not let her take the field...

Another great classic in my line-up as regards the 4th position of my line-up, I have 6 mana left available, I decide to invest them all to let ***Goblin Psychic*** play, at the level to which I boosted it, the 7th, has 3 skills, all very suitable for the game in question, *Tank Heal*, thanks to which he can prolong the life of the Monster in 1st position, *Affliction*, to make the affected Monster even more suffering, and especially *Silence*, always assuming that my opponent will use some Monsters with the Magic attack, able to reduce their danger...

And finally, in order to protect the rearline Monsters, having run out of Mana at my disposal, I'm going to insert a 0-cost Card, ***Fungus Fiend***, Legendary Card of the Earth Element, thanks to which I try to make the opposing team's task more difficult...

My opponent also opts for my same Summoner, *Obsidian*, even if he only has it at 4th level, it's already a distinctive element, the difference in power between mine and his Summoner, but sometimes I encountered players who manage, thanks to great strategies and effective combinations of Cards, to overturn the theoretical balance of forces in the field, actually seeing 2 particular Cards, *Fungus Flinger* and *Venari Marksrat*, for a moment I feared the worst, in in any case, I initiated the start of the meeting...

Beginning of the 2nd round of the game, in fact the premature loss of *Fungus Flinger* in the opposing formation has caused a worrying strengthening of the neighboring Cards, thanks to the ability *Martyr*, *Giant Hill* and *Regal Peryton* become decidedly more performing, but it's still too early to wrap his head, let's see how everything goes...

The loss suffered, by my opponent, also of his 2nd Card with ability *Martyr* (Venari Marksrat), has created a very strong Card in 1st position, that *Giant Hill* which represents the only real remaining concern for me, even if by now it is a *white fly*, as *Mycelic Morphoid*, which is behind its forerunner, does not represent a danger that much, the thing that reassures me the most is represented by the fact that *Giant Hill* has 7 Lives, but the round of fire to which he is potentially subjected is really powerful, so I really believe that the fate of the match is now marked in my favor, I'll stop here, I don't want to reveal everything about the ending of this match, I leave you by referring you to the link above...

***Final Thoughts***

I think I have exploited the *Armored Up* combat mode quite well, some of my Monsters have actually enjoyed it, the additional protection it grants, I don't think the same can be said for my opponent, even if more than a wrong use of his deployment, the lack of effectiveness of the *Armored Up* protection is due to the fact of my use of Cards with the Magic attack, able to evade it...

La partecipazione al nuovo Grande Contest di Splinterlands, denominato ***Battle Mage Secrets***, si sta rivelando, di settimana in settimana, particolarmente difficile, in quanto oggi mi ero messo in testa di riuscire a spuntare una battaglia utile per illustrare la modalità di combattimento previsto per questa settimana, che è, come ormai noi tutti sappiamo...

***Armored Up***

Ho iniziato a fare partite su partite, senza quasi interrompermi, ma la mia percentuale di energia, di recentissima introduzione, calava sempre più, e questa benedetta partita, con modalità *Armored Up*, non arrivava, finché non sono arrivato proprio a zero, completo esaurimento, ho iniziato allora a vendere qualche Carta doppia, tra quelle che avevo già maxato, ma ho ottenuto solamente qualche centinaia di DEC come controvalore, finché non ho messo sul piatto un pezzo forte, di cui parlerò in un prossimo post, venduto il quale ho acquistato altri 10 punti di energia...

Dopo un 1° tentativo infruttuoso, al 2°, come nelle precedenti settimane, non ho fallito l'obiettivo, per cui, finalmente, ho avuto la mia benedetta battaglia da allegare a questo post, ma parliamo un attimo più in dettaglio della modalità...

*Armored Up, alziamo l'armatura*

Questa modalità di combattimento prevede che tutti i Mostri abbiamo un'armatura potenziata di 2 unità, in modo tale da ottenere un prolungamento potenziale della loro Vita, è una tipologia di battaglia che è molto apprezzabile quando ci si ritrova, come altra modalità di combattimento associata a *Armored Up*, *Lost Magic*, in modo tale da non poter impiegare i Mostri con attacco Magico, in caso contrario si rischia che *Armored Up* abbia una valenza un po' più limitata...

Fatta questa breve introduzione, andiamo a vedere le modalità complessiva di combattimento che ho trovato nella battaglia di cui allego il link di riferimento...

***Analisi delle modalità di combattimento***

Tre modalità di combattimento, ***Target Practice***, in cui tutti i Mostri con attacco Magico e a Distanza acquisiscono l'abilità Snipe, ***Briar Patch***, grazie alla quale tutti i Mostri avranno l'abilità Thorns, e infine arriva ***Armored Up***, di cui abbiamo parlato poco sopra, procedendo oltre, ci sono 19 Mana di dotazione complessiva e 3 soli Elementi utilizzabili, Fuoco, Terra e Vita...

Ero appena sotto ai 2,800 punti, per cui tutti e 3 gli Evocatori li potevo utilizzare al 6° livello, se fossi stato oltre quella soglia, avrei avuto più incertezze, perché i miei Evocatori Fuoco e Vita sono potenziati all'8° livello, ma considerando la limitazione al 6° livello, associata alle modalità di combattimento, ho deciso di optare per l'Elemento Terra, andando a schierare *Obsidian*...

***La mia formazione***

Con 19 Mana a disposizione, di cui 4 vengono assorbiti dall'Evocatore Terra *Obsidian*, mi rimangono 15 Mana, da distribuire nella formazione effettiva che voglio far scendere in campo, decido di piazzare in 1° posizione una Carta dal basso costo...

***Failed Summoner***, ho scelto questa Carta per diversi motivi, innanzitutto ha un costo di soli 2 Mana, ha lo scopo di far sprecare colpi alla formazione avversaria, ma soprattutto ipotizzo un utilizzo abbastanza massiccio, da parte del mio nemico, di Carte con attacco Magico, per cui *Failed Summoner*, grazie alla sua abilità di *Magic Reflect*, può fiaccare il numero di Vite dei Mostri avversari, peccato per il fatto che la possiedo potenziata solamente al 3° livello, il suo costo rilevante ha sempre allontanato, almeno per il momento, il mio progetto di rinforzo di questa Carta, per avere prestazioni ottimali occorrerebbe portarla almeno al 6° livello, ma il prezzo da sborsare è piuttosto alto...

Una Carta molto veloce in 2° posizione, alla quale ricorro spesso, considerando anche il fatto di un costo in Mana abbastanza contenuto in 5 unità, sto parlando di ***Regal Peryton***, 2 colpi per tornata di gioco, che salgono potenzialmente a 3, utilizzando *Obsidian* come Evocatore...

***Khmer Princess***, non possiedo questa Carta direttamente, la mia copia fa parte del pacchetto di Carte in dotazionie iniziale, ma *Khmer Princess* ma spesso un'importanza fondamentale nel mio schieramento anche al 1° livello, perché sempre grazie a *Obsidian* ottiene il 2° colpo per tornata di gioco, considerando il fatto che costa solamente 2 Mana, non potevo non farla scendere in campo...

Altro grande classico nel mio schieramento per quello che riguarda la 4° posizione del mio schieramento, mi rimangono 6 Mana a disposizione, decido di investirli tutti per far giocare ***Goblin Psychic***, al livello a cui l'ho potenziato, il 7°, possiede ben 3 abilità, tutte molto adatte alla partita in questione, *Tank Heal*, grazie alla quale può prolungare la vita del Mostro in 1° posizione, *Affliction*, per rendere ancora più sofferenza al Mostro colpito, e soprattutto *Silence*, sempre ipotizzando che il mio avversario utilizzerà alcuni Mostri con l'attacco Magico, in grado di ridurre la loro pericolosità...

E per concludere, alla scopo di proteggere i Mostri delle retrovie, avendo finito i Mana a mia disposizione, vado a inserire una Carta dal costo 0, ***Fungus Fiend***, Carta Leggendaria dell'Elemento Terra, grazie alla quale cerco di rendere più difficile il compito della squadra avversaria...

Il mio avversario opta anche lui per il mio stesso Evocatore, *Obsidian*, anche se lo possiede solamente al 4° livello, è già un elemento distintivo, la differenza di potenza tra il mio e il suo Evocatore, ma a volte ho incontrato dei giocatori che riescono, grazie a grandi strategie e combinazioni efficaci di Carte, a ribaltare i rapporti teorici di forze in campo, in effetti vedendo 2 Carte particolari, *Fungus Flinger* e *Venari Marksrat*, per un istante ho temuto il peggio, in ogni caso ho avviato la partenza dell'incontro...

Inizio del 2° round di gioco, in effetti la perdita prematura di *Fungus Flinger* nella formazione avversaria ha procurato un preoccupante rafforzamento delle Carte limitrofe, grazie all'abilità *Martyr*, *Giant Hill* e *Regal Peryton* diventano decisamente più performanti, ma ancora è presto per fasciarsi la testa, vediamo un po' come procede il tutto...

La perdita subita, da parte del mio avversario, anche della sua 2° Carta con abilità *Martyr* (Venari Marksrat), ha creato una Carta molto forte in 1° posizione, quel *Giant Hill* che rappresenta l'unica vera residua preoccupazione per me, anche se ormai è una *mosca bianca*, in quanto *Mycelic Morphoid*, che si trova alle spalle del suo apripista, non rappresenta un pericolo più di tanto, la cosa che mi tranquillizza maggiormente è rappresentato dal fatto che *Giant Hill* possiede 7 Vite, ma il giro di fuoco a cui è potenzialmente sottoposto è davvero potente, per cui ritengo proprio che le sorti dell'incontro siano ormai segnate a mio favore, mi fermo qui, non voglio svelare proprio tutto quanto il finale di questa partita, vi lascio rimandandovi al link di cui sopra...

***Considerazioni finali***

Penso di aver sfruttato abbastanza bene la modalità di combattimento *Armored Up*, alcuni miei Mostri ne hanno effettivamente goduto, della protezione ulteriore che concede, non altrettanto ritengo si possa dire per il mio avversario, anche se più che a un utilizzo errato del suo schieramento, la mancata efficacia della protezione *Armored Up* è dovuta al fatto del mio impiego di Carte con l'attacco Magico, in grado di eluderla...
