En esta entrega, estaremos haciendo un recorrido descriptivo sobre el comportamiento que tienen los óxidos metálicos en nuestra sociedad y nos centraremos en profundizar lo referente a su formulación y nomenclatura. </div> <hr /> <center><h1><strong> INTRODUCCIÓN </strong></h1></center> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> El planeta tierra está formado por un conjunto de sustancia, algunas combinadas como el agua y otras de composición invariable como el hierro. Cuando estas sustancias invariables se combinan forman una gran variedad de compuesto que podemos encontrar en los diferentes estados de la materia.</div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> Lo cual representa un factor determinante en el desarrollo de la vida del planeta, por mencionar algunos aspectos relacionados, el ser humano utiliza el aire, una mezcla de oxígeno y nitrógeno, las rocas, mezcla de diferentes minerales, el suelo formado por diferentes sustancia que permiten la producción y propagación de las plantas. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> En tal sentido, son muchos los compuestos químicos que podemos encontrar en la naturaleza, por lo cual se hace necesario de un control para poder asignar un nombre a dichas sustancias de acuerdo a sus propiedades. Es por ello, que las sustancias química, que han sido estudiadas hasta la fecha, se rigen por un patrón establecido por <strong> la Unión Internacional de Química Pura y Aplicada </strong> con sus siglas en inglés <strong>(IUPAC), </strong> el cual es el ente rector que rige la normativa para formular y nombrar a los más de 30 millones de compuestos químicos que se conocen en la actualidad. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> La función principal de este organismo, se basa en establecer un método estandarizado que no dé pie a confusiones en cuantos a compuestos de refiere, donde las personas puedan asignar un mismo nombre a las sustancia, sin importar el país o idioma donde se encuentren. En otras palabras, cada nombre se refiere a una sola especie. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> Por consiguiente, en esta publicación estudiaremos lo referido a los óxidos básicos, también conocidos como óxidos metálicos quienes representan a un conjunto de compuestos formados por la reacción de un elemento metálico con el oxígeno. </div> <p></p> <center><h1><strong> GENERALIDADES DE LOS ÓXIDOS BÁSICOS </strong></h1></center> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> Los óxidos básicos, también llamados óxidos metálicos, son compuesto químicos binarios formados por la combinación de un elemento metálico con el oxígeno. Los mismos tienen la propiedad de reaccionar con el agua formando compuestos ternarios a los que denominaremos hidróxidos. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> Los óxidos son muy comunes en la naturaleza, producto de la gran cantidad de elementos metálicos que podemos encontrar, de igual forma tienen la propiedad de ser buenos conductores de electricidad y calor, además manifiestan puntos de fusión elevados ya que tienden hacer sólidos, aunque las propiedades de las sustancias provenientes de una combinación de elementos son diferentes a las iniciales, este tipo de compuestos suelen presentar características afines al elemento que los origino. </div> <p></p> <center> https://images.hive.blog/DQmVVoAmKUgHYyiisxHLxqBGm479CPCHoGqBXKTHzQLhwBi/REACCION%20DE%20LOS%20OXIDOS%20METALICOS.png </center> <blockquote><div class="text-justify"> Figura 1. Editado a través de Power Point 2010. </div></blockquote></div> <p></p> <center><h1><strong> APLICACIONES DE LOS ÓXIDOS BÁSICOS </strong></h1></center> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> La utilidad y aplicaciones de los oxido, está relacionada con la abundancia de estos compuestos, producto de la capacidad que tienen los elementos metálicos en combinarse con el oxígeno. En tal sentido, estos compuestos tienen una variedad de uso de los cuales describiremos algunos a continuación: </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> - El óxido de zinc (ZnO), compuesto binario utilizado en la elaboración de talcos. <p></p> - El dióxido de titanio (TiO<sub>2</sub>), utilizado en los productos de belleza, especialmente en el maquillaje o cosméticos. <p></p> - El óxido de magnesio (MgO), que participa en las reacciones ácido-base de los antiácidos. <p></p> - El óxido de aluminio (Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>), utilizados en la elaboración de latas para las bebidas carbonatadas. <p></p> - El óxido de hierro (Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>), utilizados en la elaboración de aleaciones. <p></p> </div> <div class="text-justify"> Estos son algunos de los usos, que se le ha dado a los óxidos básicos en nuestra cotidianidad, lo cual refleja la importancia de conocer la formulación y nomenclaturas de estas sustancias. </div> <p></p> <center><h1><strong> NOMENCLATURA DE LOS ÓXIDO METÁLICOS </strong></h1></center> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> En este apartado, describiremos el procedimiento a seguir para dar nombre a los óxidos básicos de acuerdo a los postulados realizados por la IUPAC. En tal sentido es necesario mencionar que los compuestos inorgánicos pueden nombrarse en correspondencia a tres tipos de nomenclatura que describiremos a continuación: </div> <p></p> <h3><strong> NOMENCLATURA TRADICIONAL (N.T)</strong></h3> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> Este tipo de nomenclatura se centra en las características y estados de oxidación que presenta el elemento que conforma el óxido, por lo que es necesario describir un conjunto de conceptos que permitan orientar al lector sobre el uso de esta nomenclatura. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> A tal efecto, debemos mencionar que una <strong> valencia o estados de oxidación, </strong> es la capacidad que tiene un elemento para combinarse y las representamos con números positivos y negativos, lo que nos indica que las sustancia está aceptando o cediendo electrones. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> Por consiguientes, existen elementos con un solo estados de oxidación, los cuales denominaremos <strong> monovalentes, </strong> entre los que podemos encontrar al sodio (Na=1+), aluminio (Al=3+), magnesio (Mg=2+), calcio (Ca=2+), litio (Li=1+), entre otros. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> Por su parte, los <strong> elementos divalentes, </strong> son aquellos que presentan dos estados de oxidación, entre los que destacan el plomo (Pb= 2+,4+), hierro (Fe= 2+,3+), cobre (Cu= 1+, 2+), niquel (Ni= 2+, 3+), entre otros. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> De igual forma, encontramos los <strong> elementos polivalentes, </strong> entiéndase como aquellos que exhiben tres o más valencias, aquí podemos encontrar el cromo (Cr= 2+, 3+, 6+), manganeso (Mn = 2+, 3+, 4+, 6+, 7+), entre otros. </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> En función al tipo de elementos con el cual se trabaje, se pueden seguir algunos de los siguientes procedimientos: </div> <p></p> <div class="text-justify"> <strong> Cuando el elemento es monovalentes: </strong> Palabra oxido + de + nombre del metal </div> <p></p> <center> https://images.hive.blog/DQmZyQBDSkHTEnBEq3wWA6bszobbRqGQatwY39aTtDvcFK1/elemenos%20monovalentes.png </center> <blockquote><div class="text-justify"> Figura 2.
