Saludos queridos hivers,  me sumo a la iniciativa promocionada por la comunidad de @motherhood, para compartir mis reflexiones sobre el tema propuesto: “Qué tipo de padre te gustaría ser y qué tipo de padre eres realmente”. 

Cuando nació mi hija yo tenía un trabajo muy demandante fuera de la ciudad donde residía, todos los días hacía un viaje de una hora para llegar a mi trabajo, mi retorno a casa era entre las 7 y 8 de la noche. Recuerdo que llegaba tan cansada del trabajo que solo quería dormir, solo tenía tiempo de darle un abrazo a mi hija y acostarla a dormir. Había fines de semana que tenía que ir también, mi cargo era de mucha responsabilidad.

Los dos primeros años de mi hija fue su papá y su abuela quienes cuidaron de ella, hasta que un día sentí que esa no era la madre que yo quería ser, yo quería ser una madre presente, verla entrar a su primer día en el kínder, hacer su comida favorita todos los días, abrazarla y jugar con ella, cosas que no tenía tiempo de hacer por mi trabajo. Yo ya me había perdido de verla crecer 2 años y luego de hablarlo con mi esposo decidí renunciar a mi trabajo, desde ese día me dediqué al cuidado de mi hogar y de mi hija, no me arrepiento de haberlo hecho, muchas personas me criticaron por dejar de ejercer mi profesión de Ingeniero y haber renunciado a un trabajo con mucho futuro, pero mi hija era y será siempre mi prioridad.

Respeto y admiro las mujeres que pueden lograr un equilibrio son su rol de madres y mujer profesional, pero no era para mí, no me sentía feliz. Desde entonces he sido una madre cariñosa y le he dado a mi hija todas las herramientas necesarias para ser una mujer exitosa y segura, impulsándola a seguir sus objetivos a través del estudio, pero siempre haciendo las cosas bien y sin pisar a nadie en su camino.

Me siento muy orgullosa de mi hija, a finales de este año se gradúa de médico y con el honor de ser Magna Cum Laude, qué más puedo pedir, creo que lo he hecho bien como madre y al dejar mi profesión a un lado me convertí en la madre que quería ser. Mi hija y yo somos muy buenas amigas, juntas estamos hemos y estamos viviendo una aventura sin fin, nos sentimos compenetradas y yo soy su mayor fan.

Ahora que mi hija tiene 25 años y deje el nido, que será pronto, quiero ser una madre con un corazón fuerte, no quiero decir nada que la detenga,  porque quiero verla volar y comerse al mundo, es su momento de brillar. Espero  poder lograrlo, estoy trabajando en ello, no va ser fácil pero esa es la madre que quiero ser en este momento de mi vida, una madre que le entrega al mundo su más preciado tesoro, su hija.

When my daughter was born, I had a very demanding job outside the city where I lived. Every day I traveled for an hour to get to work. My return home was between 7 and 8 at night. There were weekends that I had to go too, my position was very responsible.

My daughter's first two years were her father and grandmother who took care of her, until one day I felt that this was not the mother I wanted to be, I wanted to be a present mother, to see her enter her first day of kindergarten , making her favorite food every day, hugging her and playing with her, things that I didn't have time to do because of my job. I had already missed seeing her grow for 2 years and after talking about it with my husband I decided to quit my job, from that day I dedicated myself to taking care of my home and my daughter, I do not regret having done it, many people criticized me for stop practicing my engineering profession and have given up a job with a great future, but my daughter was and will always be my priority.

I respect and admire women who can achieve a balance between their role as mothers and professional women, but it wasn't for me, I didn't feel happy. Since then I have been a loving mother and have given my daughter all the necessary tools to be a successful and confident woman, encouraging her to follow her goals through studying, but always doing things right and not stepping on anyone in her way. .

I feel very proud of my daughter, at the end of this year she graduated as a doctor and with the honor of being Magna Cum Laude, what more could I ask for, I think I have done well as a mother and by leaving my profession aside I became the mother she wanted to be. My daughter and I are very good friends, together we have and are living an endless adventure, we feel at one with each other and I am her biggest fan.
