Hello, my friends from #hivecuba. It’s been a while since I last posted in this community, but I plan to be quite active soon. Today, I want to share some images from a recent visit I made to the Santa Ifigenia Heritage Cemetery in Santiago de Cuba, my hometown. I have to admit that until today, I had a somewhat dark opinion of the cemetery, and I had never seen it from the cultural and historical perspective that it holds.

Hoy vengo a compartirles algunas imagenes de una reciente visita que hice por el **Cementerio Patrimonial Santa Ifigenia** de Santiago de Cuba mi ciudad natal , he de admitir que hasta el dia de hoy tenia una opinion un poco oscura del cementerio y nunca antes lo habia visto desde la perspectiva cultural he historica que este tiene.

On this first visit, I wanted to walk the path of the founding fathers and started by visiting the mausoleum of José Martí, a place that we all should know, but that’s not always the case—many have never visited this site, and I was among them. I was accompanied by one of the museum curators, who was very kind throughout and guided me, sharing interesting facts about the places I asked to visit.

>Esta primera visita quise recorrer el camino de los padres fundadores y comenze por visitar el mausoleo de Jose Marti un lugar que se supone que todos deberíamos conocer pero no es asi, muchos no han visitado nunca este lugar y entre esos estaba yo.
Me acompañaba una de las museologas del lugar quien fue muy amable todo el tiempo y me fue guiando y contando sobre las curiosidades de los lugares que le pedi visitar.

The guide told me a bit about the architecture surrounding this place, which gave me chills. She spoke about the symbolism present there, and something that deeply impacted me—or at least that was my interpretation—was that when I looked into the pantheon, I could feel how many aspects of Martí’s life and his "Versos Sencillos" were reflected, like the one that says something about having a bouquet of flowers and a flag on his grave. Also, the idea that he should not be placed in the dark to die like a traitor resonated with me, as I learned from my questions that the sun always shines on his resting place. According to the museum curator, the monument faces east, allowing this to happen. It is surrounded by the shields of 21 countries from the Americas, with Cuba's shield at the center. I also noticed some holes on the walls close to the floor, and she explained that water enters through them, creating the crossing of two currents symbolizing the site of his fall in combat at Dos Ríos. This detail left me incredibly impressed and made me appreciate the effort of the architects and sculptors who worked on the site.

>La guia me conto un poco de la arquitectura que envolvia este lugar que uuff me erizo la piel ,me hablo un poco de los simbolismos que habian,algo que me impacto bastante o buena esa fue mi interpretacion es que al azomarme a ver el panteon se podia sentor como se reflejaban muchas cosas de la vida de marti y de sus versos sencillos, como el que decia algo de tener en su tumba un ramos de flores y una bandera, el de que no lo pusieran en lo oscuro a morir como un traidor ya que segun lo que pregunte el sol siempre esta rflejando sobre su lugar de descanso y aque segun lo que me decia la museologa el monumento se proyecta al este y esto permite que ocurra esto, esta rodeado por los escudos de 21 paises de América y al centro el escudo de Cuba, tambien en elas paredes de el pegadas al piso habian unos orificios que me llamaton la atencion y me comento que por ahi  entraba el agua y se produce el cruce de 2 corrientes y simboliza el lugar de la caida en combate Dos Rios, este detalle me dejo super sorprendido y me hizo ver el esfuerzo del o los arquitectos y escultores que trabajaron en el lugar.

From there, I went on to visit the Father of the Nation, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, where she told me more about the sculpture and what each detail represented. For instance, the female figure beside him symbolizes the homeland, and the broken chains immediately conveyed to me the idea of the fight against slavery. It’s an impressive sculpture.

>De ahi pase a visitar al Padre de la Patria Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, donde me comento otro poco de la escultura y lo que representaba cada detalle como la figura femenina que aparece a su lado que representa a la patria, las cadenas rotas enseguida me trasmitieron el pensar de que se trataba de la ruptura en contra de la esclavitud ufff una escultura impresionante.

I also visited Mariana Grajales, among other sites, and learned more anecdotes and curiosities during this brief tour. I couldn't take many photos because I was so immersed in the journey and the experience that it slipped my mind a bit.

This visit greatly changed my perspective of this place, and I encourage you, if you ever find yourself in Santiago de Cuba, not to miss visiting this site, which holds a truly unique history.

>Visite tambien a Mariana Grajales entre otros lugares y mas anécdotas y curiosidades que descubri en este pequeño recorrido del que no pude tomar muchas fotos ya que estaba tan inmerso en el viaje y la experiencia que realmente se me paso un poco por alto.


>Esta visita cambio mucho mi vision de este lugar y los invito a si algun dia estan en Santiago de Cuba no dejen de visitar este lugar que contiene una historia sin igual.
