A few years ago, I was chatting to a colleague of mine (who is also a martial artist), and he asked me this question: "*How is your training going*"? I paused and thought about how much training I was doing. My answer back to him, after the hesitation, was: "I'm not really training much anymore". He was **shocked** and his face dropped, like I had done something terrible. I was puzzled as to why he was shocked, I thought, I can't be the only person in the world who's not training. 

幾年前, 我有一個同事, 也是練武功的, 跟我聊天時, 就問我一個問題：「*你最近鍛练的怎樣*？」我愣了一下，想了想，我最近好像沒什麼鍛鍊，於是，我就說：「最近好像沒什麼鍛練。」他的臉**當場變色**，好像我犯了什麼錯誤似的。我想，他幹嘛這麼大驚小怪，這世上有多少人沒有在鍛鍊。

My colleague then continued and said: "What? Why aren't you training?" I tried to think of a couple of excuses, like me not making any progress etc. He then said: " You should always be training no matter what. You need to keep it going." His reaction and his words stuck in my head and after I thought about it, I realised he was right.

我同事繼續說：「為什麼沒有在鍛練？」我想找有沒有什麼藉口，像是怎麼練都沒什麼進步，等等。他說：「一個人一定得一直鍛鍊下去，無論什麼原因。」我對他說的話印象挺深刻，之後想了想，覺得他說得真對。

You can't just stop training because you've plateaued or you're not making as much progress as you wanted. There's a 70 something year old guy at my gym who can do more than 30 chin ups in a row, and he's still training. My martial arts master who is more than 10 years older than me can do more than 10 chin ups with extra weight attached to him (He finds it too easy without the extra weight). I don't know how many chin ups you can do, but I can do about 5. There's so much more room for improvement. I know older guys who can run faster, jump higher. My dad can still beat me at tennis.

就算你鍛練到了一定的階段，覺得再鍛練也不會有進步，也不能停。我認識一個在我的健身房七十幾歲的先生，還能拉單槓(引体向上)拉三十下。我的功夫老師能夠身上拖著重物拉十下 (不脫重物他來說太簡單)。我不知道你能拉幾下單槓，但我大概拉個五下就拉不上去了。我的朋友裡，有年紀比我大的但能夠跑得比我遠，跳得比我高。我爸爸網球也能打贏我。

What I'm trying to say is, you shouldn't stop training no matter how old you are, or what condition you're in. Training is something that you should keep doing for the rest of your life. Hope this article has helped you in some way as much as it has helped me.
