1. Keep your goals realistic
Some people shoot for the moon when they start a workout program. The problem is for most people the moon is unreasonable and not realistic. You should be taking small steps and setting small goals so that you can stay on the program longer. If your goals are only meet at the end of your program then you are more likely to quit from not see results right away.
2. Keep a daily list of accomplishments
Once you set a small goal and you mark it off your list it will feel amazing. Small victories are a part of the game.
3. 3 to 5 days of exercise
If you are the type of person that never goes to the gym and finding yourself going ever single day then you will burn yourself out real quick. Your body is not use to this strain and needs time to recover. 2 to 3 days of recovery are good for beginners going into a program. So takes these days off from the gym.
4. Rest days should still be active.
Just because you're not at the gym doesn't mean you shouldn't still exercise. Introduce some light cardio or other workouts like biking, hiking, or swimming into these days. Keep you body active will help your metabolism stay active and burning fat.
5. Cheat days will ruin you
Cheat days are for experienced lifters who are still counting calories and taking measures to make up for the calories. You are not one of these people so stay off the cheat days so you don't fall off the wagon.
