<p>Hello friends, today I want to talk to you about a film I saw over the weekend and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to review it because it is really worth it. First of all I would like to clarify that the title confused me a lot because some times I found the film with the name "Lost" and others as "Deep Fear" but this last name also has another film that also deals with the sea but with a different context, anyway I decided to keep the name "Deep Fear" not only because it is on the poster I got, but because I think it is the most appropriate name for the film.
>Hola amigos, hoy quiero hablarles de una película que vi el fin de semana y de la cual no podía dejar pasarla oportunidad de hacerle una review porque realmente vale muchisimo la pena. En primer lugar me gustaría aclarar que el título me confundió bastante ya que algunas veces encontré la película con el nombre "Perdídos" y otras como "Miedo Profundo" pero este último nombre también lo tiene otra película que igualmente trata sobre el mar pero con un contexto distinto, sea como sea decidí quedarme con el nombre "Miedo Profundo" no solo porque está en el poster que conseguí, sino porque creo que es el nombre más adecuado para el film.</p></div>

<p>"Deep Fear" is a 2017 Portuguese film, directed by Sérgio Graciano, the script is quite good, the cinematography is quite basic, in fact almost the whole film takes place in the same setting, but the story and performances are so convincing that they grab the viewer in a few seconds, it is impressive to see how much a talented filmmaker can achieve with a limited budget.</p></div>
>"Miedo Profundo" es una película portuguesa del 2017, dirigida por Sérgio Graciano, el guion es bastante bueno, la fotografía es bastante básica, de hecho casi toda la película transcurre en un mismo escenario, pero la historia y las actuaciones son tan convincentes que atrapan al espectador en pocos segundos, es impresionante ver lo mucho que puede lograr un cineasta talentoso con un presupuesto limitado.

<p>It is about a group of friends who after years without seeing each other, meet again to enjoy a ride on a sailboat, after having a few drinks and a long talk, almost all decide to jump into the sea to swim for a while, but Ana (who is afraid of the sea) decides to stay on board with her baby, however, Daniel, the owner of the sailboat and Ana's ex-boyfriend, in a fit of recklessness decides to be funny and jump into the sea while holding Ana against her will, She obviously had a panic attack due to her phobia, but Daniel thought that the lifejacket he decided to take down with him would be more than enough, but soon afterwards they all realise that they are in serious trouble when they realise that Daniel had not lowered the ladder of the sailboat and therefore they will not be able to get on board again.</p></div>
>Se trata de un grupo de amigos que luego de años sin verse, se reúnen de nuevo para disfrutar de un paseo en un velero, luego de beber unas copas y conversar largo rato, casi todos deciden lanzarse al mar para nadar un rato, pero Ana (quien tiene miedo al mar) decide quedarse a bordo junto con su bebé, sin embargo, Daniel, el dueño del velero y exnovio de Ana, en un arrebato de imprudencia decide hacerse el gracioso y arrojarse al mar mientras sujeta a Ana en contra de su voluntad, evidentemente a ella le dio un ataque de pánico debido a su fobia, pero Daniel pensó que con el chaleco salvavidas que el decidió bajar consigo sería más que suficiente, sin embargo poco después todos se dan cuenta de que realmente están en serios problemas al comprobar que Daniel no había bajado la escalera del velero y por lo tanto no podrán subir a bordo de nuevo.

<p>I think what I found most striking about this film was undoubtedly the performances, all the actors make you feel part of the film, it's as if you were living the story with them, as you see the desperation take hold of the characters and they start to commit one reckless act after another, the anguish also takes hold of you.
>Creo que lo que me pareció más impactante de este film sin dudas fueron las actuaciones, todos los actores te hacen sentir parte de la película, es como si estuvieses viviendo la historia con ellos, conforme ves que la desesperación se apodera de los personajes y ellos comienzan a cometer una imprudencia tras otra, la angustia también se apodera de ti.</p></div>

<p>But the script is so well written that in a short time all the dialogues allow you to get to know the different personalities, and at other times, even if you come to hate some of them, you feel moved. In terms of story I think there were things that could be improved, for example, the conflict between Ana and Jaime from the beginning seemed boring to me and I even think that it is difficult to believe that a couple that is going through a moment of conflict decides to go on a trip with friends and much less if among them is the girl's ex boyfriend, in effect that generated more conflicts and that is why I think it is something unnecessary within the plot.</p></div>
>Pero el guion está tan bien escrito que en poco tiempo todos los diálogos te permiten conocer las diferentes personalidades, y en otras ocasiones, aunque llegues a odiar a alguno de ellos te sientes conmovido. En materia de historia creo que hubo cosas que se pudieron mejorar, por ejemplo, el conflicto entre Ana y Jaime desde el principio me pareció aburrido e incluso pienso que es algo difícil creer que una pareja que está pasando por un momento de conflictos decida ir a un viaje con amigos y mucho menos si entre ellos está el ex novio de la chica, en efecto eso generó más conflictos y por eso creo que es algo innecesario dentro de la trama.

<p>But the scene that is almost at the end of the film is what I like the least, I really think that although the story was pretty good, this scene ruined the empathy I felt for Ana, it made her look selfish or at best like a stupid, I won't say anything explicit about this not to make spoilers in case you want to see this film, but it really made me feel bad that scene and I don't agree with it at all.</p></div>
>Pero la escena que está casi al final de la película es lo que menos me gusta, de verdad que pienso que aunque la historia fue bastante buena, esta escena poco creíble arruinó la empatía que yo sentía por Ana, la hizo parecer egoísta o en el mejor de los casos como una estúpida, no diré nada explícito sobre esto para no hacer spoiler por si quieren ver esta película, pero de verdad que me hizo sentir mal esa escena y no estoy para nada de acuerdo con ella.

<p>As for the cinematography, although at the beginning it was very good, in the water scenes I didn't like it, because the camera filter was too dark (a very used resource in cinema to generate anguish) but in this case it was not justified, since they should have respected the natural light of the sun to make it more credible, otherwise the result was an opaque scene, as if everyone was under a canopy.</p></div>
>En cuanto a la fotografía, si bien al principio fue muy buena, en las escenas del agua no me gustó, debido a que el filtro de cámara era demasiado oscuro (un recurso muy utilizado en cine para generar angustia) pero en este caso no estaba justificado, ya que debieron respetar la luz natural del sol para que resultara más creíble, de lo contrario el resultado fue una escena opaca, como si todos estuviesen bajo un toldo.

<p>However, I really liked the camera shots, they were quite good, the water shots make you feel that you are inside the film, the camera sometimes dives, which creates the feeling that you are sinking, and the aerial shots are the best, because they put the situation in context from another perspective.

>Sin embargo me gustaron mucho los planos de cámara, fueron bastante buenos, los del agua te hacen sentir que estás dentro del filme, la cámara a veces hace inmersiones, lo que genera la sensación de que te estás hundiendo, y los planos aéreos son los mejores, porque te ponen la situación en contexto desde otra perspectiva.

<p>Despite the flaws I mentioned above, (flaws that are probably not such a thing, taking into account that I am no film expert, I just know that I like it and I have read a lot about it) I think that "Deep Fear" or "Lost" as you prefer to call it, is a film worth watching, because the director used all the cinematographic resources to tell a story in which the viewer could feel identified, because it is a quite probable situation, something that can happen to anyone, even if they are very careful.</p></div>
>A pesar de las fallas que mencioné anteriormente, (fallas que probablemente no son tal cosa, tomando en cuenta que no soy ninguna experta en cine, solo sé que me gusta y he leído mucho sobre él) creo que "Miedo Profundo" o "Perdidos" como prefieran llamarle, es un film digno de ver, pues el director utilizó todos los recursos cinematográficos para contar una historia en la que el espectador se pudiera sentir identificado, porque es una situación bastante probable, algo que le puede suceder a cualquiera, incluso por muy cuidadoso que sea.

<p>One of the things I must highlight about the story and the characters, is that even though I understand perfectly the hostile reactions and reproaches against Daniel (the one who threw himself overboard with Ana leaving the ladder on top of the boat) it is inevitable not to put oneself in his place in one of the final scenes of the film, the character for the first time bares his soul and begins to see himself as he has been all his life: arrogant, egocentric, empty, then he asks for forgiveness again and again, he comes clean to his friends and thus becomes more human.</p></div>
>Una de las cosas que debo resaltar acerca de la historia y los personajes, es que aún y cuando entiendo perfectamente las reacciones hostiles y los reproches en contra de Daniel (el que se arrojó por la borda con Ana dejando al escalera arriba del bote) es inevitable no ponerse en su lugar en una de las escenas finales de la película, el personaje por primera vez desnuda su alma y comienza a verse a sí mismo tal como ha sido toda su vida: arrogante, egocéntrico, vacío, entonces pide perdón una y otra vez, se sincera ante sus amigos y por ende se vuelve más humano.

<p>There are many heartbreaking scenes that make you feel how vulnerable human beings are, and make you reflect on how something as simple and everyday as in this case, a ladder, can be salvation, and another thing that left me thinking a lot after watching this film is that, as human beings we all make mistakes, but there are definitely mistakes that can kill you.</p></div>
>Hay muchas escenas desgarradoras que te hacen sentir lo vulnerable que es el ser humano, y te hacen reflexionar acerca de como algo tan simple y cotidiano como en este caso, una escalera, puede ser la salvación, y otra cosa que me dejó pensando mucho después de ver esta película es que, como seres humanos que somos, todos cometemos errores, pero definitivamente hay errores que matan.
