Siempre me han gustado los gatos desde pequeña porque me parecen hermosos, mi mama siempre tuvo muchos gatitos con personalidades únicas, ella siempre me ha contado anécdotas y experiencias divertidas con sus distintos gatos, por lo que siempre sentí curiosidad y me hizo amarlos, aún antes de tener uno como mascota.

Un 11 de mayo mi mamá trajo a la casa, un gatico blanco de aproximadamente 10 centímetros de largo. En ese tiempo mi mamá estudiaba Artes Plásticas y se enteró que su profesor de fotografía tenía una Gata recién parida con tres gatitos, acordando que cuando pasara el destete él le regalaría uno de los gatitos, pero esta entrega se aceleró ya que la mama gata protegiendo a su camada se enfrentó a un perro y este la mató a ella y dos de los gaticos quedando solo el que sería nuestro; el profesor habló con mi mama explicándole lo sucedido, porque ya le había ofrecido un gatico más grande y destetado, pero mi mama acepto las condiciones de la adopción en las que venía el nuevo miembro de la familia, ofreciéndose a darle alimentación y cuidados especiales.

El día que el profesor se lo llevó hasta la Escuela de Arte coincidió con mi cumpleaños. Ese día, recuerdo que, en camino del colegio hacia mi casa, venía con mi amiga Laura -que pasaría la tarde conmigo- y mi mama me dijo que me tenía una sorpresa al llegar a la casa. El colegio donde estudiábamos la primaria quedaba muy cerca de mi casa, así que Laura y yo corrimos super emocionadas. Cuando llegamos al apartamento vimos una caja de cartón enorme y escuchamos unos maullidos muy agudos… cuando mi mamá abrió la caja de cartón salió el gatico que era muy blanco y chiquito; recuerdo que pegue un brinco al sofá y grite pensando que era un ratón; mi amiga se quedó paralizada y nerviosa, preguntando qué era eso, el gatito apenas tenía unas dos semanas no había abierto los ojos y me cabía en una mano, tuvimos que alimentarlo con un gotero y en las noches en la cestica donde dormía le poníamos una botella llena de agua caliente envuelta en telas suaves para que se mantuviera calientica; su pelaje era totalmente blanco y tenía una pequeña manchita negra en la cabeza.

The school where we were studying was very close to my house, so Laura and I ran over super excited. When my mom opened the cardboard box the kitten came out, it was very white and tiny; I remember that I jumped on the couch and screamed thinking it was a mouse; my friend was paralyzed and nervous, asking what it was, the kitten was barely two weeks old, he had not opened his eyes and he fit in one hand, we had to feed him with a dropper and at night in the crate where he slept we put a bottle full of hot water wrapped in soft fabrics to keep him warm; his fur was totally white and he had a small black spot on his head.
Hasta ese momento pensábamos que era macho, luego creció y descubrimos que era hembra (suele ocurrir con los gatos) y le puse Ita, no recuerdo exactamente porque le coloque ese nombre, pero creo que fue un diminutivo de “Cusita” (así le decían a todos los gatos en casa de mis abuelos paternos).

Cada vez desaparecía más la pequeña manchita en su cabeza quedando totalmente blanquita. Igualmente, cuando abrió sus ojos de chiquita eran de color azul y luego pasaron a verde. Con el tiempo se convirtió en una gata bellísima totalmente blanca, su personalidad era asustadiza pero tenía su encanto era conversadora cuando una la llamaba por su nombre Ita, ella contestaba maullando, tenía un gran repertorio de maullidos para todo lo que le decías y para todo momento también, tenía momentos en que yo la perseguía y ella corría a toda velocidad rebotando en las paredes e incluso saltaba sobre los muebles para seguir corriendo. Ita estuvo conmigo y con mi familia desde mayo del 2008 hasta mayo del 2012 unos días antes de que yo cumpliera años.
>The little spot on her head was disappearing more and more, becoming totally white. When she opened her eyes as a little girl they were blue and then turned to green. With time she became a beautiful cat totally white, her personality was scary but she had her charm, she was talkative when you called her name Ita, she answered meowing, she had a great repertoire of meows for everything you said to her and for every moment too, she had moments when I chased her and she ran at full speed bouncing on the walls and even jumped on the furniture to keep running. Ita was with me and my family from May 2008 until May 2012 a few days before my birthday.
Su fallecimiento fue por una Septicemia que se originó en el útero. Mis padres creyendo que por estar dentro de un apartamento no era necesario esterilizarla, ni tampoco dejar que tuviera crías, y que no pasaría nada solo sus temporadas del celo sin contratiempos y ya, pero nos equivocamos.
>Her death was due to septicemia that originated in the uterus. My parents thought that because she was in an apartment it was not necessary to sterilize her, nor let her have pups, and that nothing would happen, just her heat seasons without problems and that was it, but we were wrong.
El parto de una gata generalmente es de 4 a 6 gatitos dependiendo de las montas y mis padres no querían más gatitos ni estar en el penoso momento de no saber qué hacer con ellos. Aprendimos duramente que el no esterilizarlas y dejar que las mascotas hembras tengan el celo y no se crucen hace que ellas se laman constantemente sus genitales y al tener una lengua muy áspera les erosiona la piel de los genitales ocasionándoles infecciones que poco a poco van subiendo al útero y al no ser detectada sucede lo que le paso a mi gata, nosotros nos dimos cuenta de su malestar demasiado tarde.

En cuanto vimos que se sentía mal la llevamos al veterinario pero en la opinión del especialista ya no era mucho lo que se podía hacer, las opciones eran dejarla como estaba hasta que falleciera o intervenirla y de salir bien de la operación igualmente quedaría con problemas a nivel de riñones, a lo que mi mama decidió darle una oportunidad de vida independientemente de lo que implicaba tener una mascota con problemas, pero estaba muy débil y falleció a las pocas horas de la operación.
>As soon as we saw that she was feeling bad we took her to the vet but in the opinion of the specialist there was not much that could be done, the options were to leave her as she was until she died or to operate her and if the operation went well she would still have kidney problems, so my mom decided to give her a chance to live regardless of what it meant to have a pet with problems, but she was very weak and died a few hours after the operation.
Ese día yo estaba en el liceo y estaba muy pendiente del teléfono y cuando me dieron la mala noticia entre en llanto y estuve muy triste por mucho tiempo.
