A business can be defined to be an establishment regardless of size that serves the public through the manufacturing of goods or provision of essential services. Though business does not have a  universal definition but it depends on the individual idea.

 Roger & Roger (2006) perceived business as the activity that exists to provide the goods and services that people and other businesses need, want and are prepared to pay for . According to them, all businesses are engaged in production. 

They use inputs such as materials, layout and capital equipment such as machinery to produce outputs in the form of the products that their customers demand. These are said to be the commonly termed “4ms” which are money, material, manpower and machinery. 

David & Andrew (1993) define business as an organization that is formed to produce and supply goods and services to satisfy the needs of the people for customers as they are more specifically known.

 The term business also refers to the commercial life of a nation in the sense that, business includes the sum total of all economic activities banking production transportation distribution and other various economic pursuits undertaking by man to provide himself with a standard of living through profit making. 


Esogwa (2004) sees a business as any organization that produces and makes available for us the economic goods and services that we want and need. To him,it is any organized activity conducted either by a person or by an organization that in anyway contributes to or assists in satisfying the needs and wants of people.

The business resources can be described to be various things or items that are working together in order to make business functioning through production of goods and services. Goods and services does not jus come out of thin air. Goods cannot be created from nothing neither can services be provided without some efforts.

 Though economic resources are commonly known to be all factors of production such as land, capital, labour ,and entrepreneur. In this regard, business resources will be examined in the areas of “money, material, machinery and manpower” popularly called “4ms” .


### They are explained as follows; 


#### Money;- 

It is said to be a monetary capital used in the establishing and running of a business, capital is generally believed to be significant in every business running as it serves as the heart of business. Money makes it easy for the entrepreneur to organize other resources that cannot be freely obtained.

 Money is usually paid to manpower (labour or employees) in return for services rendered and it is also being used to purchase raw-materials as well as other equipments needed for business running. With this, money is classified as one of the vital elements of business resources.
