### First walk in new Hallock State Preserve, North Shore of Long Island NY. Park has 225 acres and a mile of pristine beachfront. Went with my new friend who lives nearby.  *Walking down to the beach* ### It was mid-day with temps warming into the 60s ...   *Long Island Sound*   *Walking east passed a couple of rock jetties and a pair of fishermen* ### Rounding the second jetty we spy unusual eroded sand cliffs. The cliffs along the north shore were form by glaciers thousands of years ago. The cliffs are usually level sand at steep angles.   *Normal cliff face*   ### This section was a darker gray color, that I thought was made of a finer clay like soil. It was severely weather eroded.     ### You could see how the cliff was washing down forming sand for the beach.    ### Seems this fine sand eroded so much quicker that the normal white courser sandy cliffs.     ### Asked my friend to go near the out hanging sand for perspective.  ### A bit further down at the end of the walk before we turned around was this rusty looking part of the cliff.   Going back we took a new gravel road up to the parking lot.
