***Habitat*** : Ground bird of plains and prairies; freshly plowed and burned-over fields, airports and golf courses; lake and river shores; beaches and mudflats.
***Seasons*** : Fall, winter, spring in South; spring and fall northward.
***Range*** : Migrates throughout; winters mainly in s. U.S. to Florida and Gulf of Mexico, north along Atlantic Coast to Long Island.
