<div class="text-justify">I have always been interested in sewing, knitting and at least a little bit in the art of embroidery. I consider them beautiful and worth learning. </div> <br>


<div class="text-justify">However, since I was a little girl I have dedicated myself to academic obligations and never paid attention to those little things that caught my attention. Then, the fulfillment of workdays and occupations took care of leaving aside the possibility of learning and putting those skills into practice. </div> <br>

More than a month ago, our neighbor was about to give birth to a baby girl. We were all looking forward to meeting her soon and bringing her a little present. So my mother-in-law ordered me some soft colored wool to make her a beautiful sweater and knitted slippers. </div> <br>


<div class="text-justify">This coincided with the time that fellow @irenenavarroart posted her Halloween challenge about a certain character in knitting or another technique. Situation that made me wonder if I was so interested in the art of knitting why not learn. </div> <br>




><div class="text-justify">Hace más de un mes, nuestra vecina estaba a punto de dar a luz a una niña. Todos estábamos con la ilusión de ir conocerla pronto y llevarle su regalito. Así que mi suegra me encargó lana de colores suaves para confeccionarle un hermoso suéter y unos zapatitos tejidos. </div> <br>

<div class="text-justify">So, I set out to do it and told my mother-in-law, who very kindly taught me how to start the basic stitches of knitting, lent me a needle and gave me a stretch of colored wool to practice. </div> <br>


<div class="text-justify">She taught me how to hold the yarn steady and how to direct the crochet hook to mark the stitches, because at the beginning I was turning it uncomfortably and sometimes it slipped and fell. </div> <br>

<div class="text-justify">The next day I had already knitted several short loops and combined some stitches, such as the chain stitch, the medium low stitch and the high stitch, which I quickly learned to differentiate them by their names. I had dropped the yarn and started over, I had made mistakes and asked questions whenever I had a concern. </div> <br>


<div class="text-justify">Even though my left hand and fingers ached (I'm right-handed) from holding the yarn and maneuvering the crochet pitch, I knew I really wanted to continue. And so I did. </div> <br>

<div class="text-justify">So I decided to search the YouTube platform for video tutorials for knitting newborn dresses. It wasn't that hard to choose: I loved a little red dress because of the shape of the yoke, very similar to the peasant style. Besides, it seemed that it wouldn't be so difficult to make it, as the procedure was very well explained. Thanks to the fact that I had just learned the names of the stitches, I was able to understand the process to the letter. </div> <br>



><div class="text-justify">Decidí comprar dos rollos de lana de dos hebras de color blanco y uno de color rojo. En principio quería intentar hacer un enterizo para recién nacido disponible en una de las revistas de mi suegra, pero luego cambié de opinión, (al dia de hoy sigo sin entender las instrucciones impresas en la revista para realizar el tejido). </div> <br>

><div class="text-justify">Por ello me decidí a buscar en la plataforma YouTube video tutoriales para tejer vestidos para recién nacida. No fue tan difícil elegir: me encantó un vestidito rojo por la forma del canesú muy similar al estilo campesina. Además, parecía que no sería tan difícil realizarlo, pues estaba muy bien explicado el procedimiento. Gracias a que recién aprendí los nombres de los puntos pude entender al pie de la letra el proceso.</div> <br>


<div class="text-justify">And so I started. Day after day I knitted a little. Between work and fatigue at the end of the day, the experience of knitting at least half an hour a day became a relaxing therapy. Although on several occasions I felt that the project was stagnant, the truth is that observing that part of the knitting was very rewarding. </div> <br>


<div class="text-justify">And so I continued. I confess that more than once I had to let go of several loops because I had left a loose stitch somewhere in the fabric. What worried me was that the baby would grow too fast and my little RN size dress wouldn't fit when I could hand it to her when it was finished. </div> <br>

Entre el trabajo y el cansancio al final del día la experiencia de tejer al menos una media hora diaria se convirtió en una terapia relajante. Aunque en varias ocasiones sentí que el proyecto estaba estancado la verdad es que observar esa parte del tejido era muy gratificante. </div> <br>

><div class="text-justify">Y así continúe. Confieso que más de una vez tuve que soltar varias vueltas por haber dejado un punto flojo en algún lugar del tejido. Lo que me preocupaba era que la bebé creciera muy rápido y mi pequeño vestido talla RN no le quedara cuando se lo pudiera entregar terminado. </div> <br>

<div class="text-justify">I was at it for three weeks until I finally finished my precious task. I had the dress ready for little April. But there was another problem. I would have liked to give it to her with an accessory to match the red and white dress. So I asked for help again. </div> <br>


<div class="text-justify">I am grateful for my mother-in-law's willingness to knit in just a few minutes some little flowers for the baby's headband. This way we were able to complete the detail.</div> <br>


><div class="text-justify">En eso estuve durante tres semanas hasta que por fin terminé mi preciada tarea. Ya tenía listo el vestidito para la pequeña Abril. Pero había otro problema. Me hubiese gustado dárselo con un accesorio que hiciera juego con el vestidito combinado en blanco y rojo. Así es que volví a pedir ayuda. </div> <br>
