Today, I particularly want to refer to the snow volcano of Ruiz

Ruiz volcano volcano is the northernmost of the active volcanoes of the volcanic belt of the Andes is located on the border between the departments of Caldas and Tolima in Colombia.

It is composed of many layers of lava that alternate with volcanic ash and has been active for nearly two million years. Its eruptions are of the Plinian type giving rise to rapid hot gas and rock flows called pyroclastic flow, these massive eruptions often generate mud flows and debris, which pose a threat to human life and the environment.
 
On November 13, 1985, this volcano caused the most serious natural disaster of the century, affecting the departments of Caldas and Tolima of Colombia.

The flows emitted by this volcano melted the glacial part of the mountain, which produced large quantities of mud, earth and debris that descended at high speed down the hillsides, reaching the town of Armero located a few kilometers from this volcano where more than 20,000 of its 29,000 inhabitants died. Adding up the victims in the villages of Chinchiná and Villamaría, the number of lives lost reached around 23,000 since it was very difficult to carry out rescue work without being trapped by the amount of mud.
