I love my country and despite the situation we find ourselves in it is my home; however I confess to you that for a long time I have had a strong attraction to go live in #Canada seeing it as a safe and quiet place, not only for me but for the future of my daughter.

Me encanta mi país y a pesar de la situación nos encontremos es mi casa; sin embargo les confieso que desde hace mucho tiempo he tenido una fuerte atracción por ir a vivir a #Canada viéndolo como un lugar seguro y tranquilo, no solo para mi sino para el futuro de mi hija.

I remember in 2012 was when that idea started to appear in my head and you know when we focus on something, it is not casual to start finding information that has to do with that. 

One of them was when I applied for a dental appointment with the health insurance company. We entered the most convenient location in the system and I found an office located in Altamira, in the eastern part of Caracas, Venezuela. The day of the appointment my daughter, my ex-husband and I went upstairs and sat down to wait our turn. We went through one by one and when it was my turn, lying on the chair, I looked out the window and what was my surprise, to see the Canadian embassy that was right in front of the office building, I sighed and my heart beat fast... I remember it and the exact same thing happened to me at this moment.
For me that was impressive, because for those days I had reviewed on my Tablet the necessary requirements to go there. But that was not all, when I left the office and waited for the girl's father to understand, I started to read the magazines and in one of them appeared a very complete report about Canada and why it was one of the safest places in the world to live 😮.

Recuerdo que en el año 2012 fue cuando comenzó aparecer esa idea en mi cabeza y ya saben cuándo nos enfocamos en algo, no es casual comenzar a encontrar información que tenga que ver con eso. 

Una de ellas fue cuando solicite al seguro médico una cita odontológica, allí colocábamos en el sistema la ubicación más conveniente y me apareció un consultorio ubicado en Altamira, localidad al este de Caracas, Venezuela. El día de la cita asistimos mi hija, mi ex esposo y yo, subimos y nos sentamos a esperar nuestro turno. Fuimos pasando uno a uno y cuando toco mi turno, acostada en la silla, miro por la ventana y cuál fue mi sorpresa, ver la embajada de Canadá que quedaba justo frente del edificio del consultorio, suspire y mi corazón latió aceleradamente… lo recuerdo y me paso exactamente lo mismo en este momento.

Para mí eso fue impresionante, porque para esos días había revisado en mi Tablet los requisitos necesarios para ir para allá. Pero eso no fue todo, al salir del consultorio y esperar a que el papa de la niña lo entendieran, comencé a leer las revistas y en una de ella apareció un reportaje muy completo sobre Canadá y porque era uno de los lugares más seguros del mundo para vivir.😮

That day I made the comment on my way home, where the girl's father told me several negatives, making me feel that I was not capable of living in another place and much less there, the cold, the language, that at my age they would not employ me, besides what would I do there denigrating the jobs that immigrants commonly do abroad. I was very saddened by this, my self-esteem was low, I won't deny it, after that I didn't talk about it anymore and I didn't keep looking for information. 😔

A year later my neighbors, the one with the kittens with whom my daughter played, decided to migrate without telling the neighbors where they would go, and it was days later talking to the president of the condominium board, who told me that she had moved to Canada... Wow! That took my breath away, I felt a great nostalgia, my feelings were mixed because I was very fond of them and I was happy that some professional women had the opportunity to excel and grow with a labor contract in another country; but I never imagined that they would go there, the destination I wanted to go for a long time, and I could not avoid my eyes watering.

Ese día hice el comentario camino a casa, donde el papa de la niña me manifestó diversas negativas, haciéndome sentir que yo no era capaz de vivir en otro lugar y mucho menos allá, el frio, el idioma, que a mi edad no me emplearían, además que iría hacer yo allá denigrando los oficios que comúnmente hacen los inmigrantes en el extranjero. Pues ante esto me entristecí mucho, mi autoestima bajo no voy a negarlo, después de eso no hable más del tema y tampoco seguí buscando información. 😔

Al año mis vecinas, la de los gatitos con quien jugaba mi hija, decidieron migrar sin decirle a los vecinos a donde irían, y fue días después conversando con la presidente de la junta de condominio, que me conto que se había mudado a Canadá… Wow! Eso me corto la respiración, sentí una gran nostalgia, mis sentimientos estaban encontrados porque les tenía mucho aprecio y me alegraba que unas mujeres profesionales tuvieran la oportunidad de superarse y crecer con un contrato laboral en otro país; pero nunca me imaginé que se fueran a allá, el destino al cual quería ir desde hace rato, y no pude evitar se me aguaran los ojos.

Several years went by and Venezuelans were migrating to other places due to the situation of the country at the time; as I was already divorced, I decided to take up again that desire to please someone else, but under my total responsibility because I assume it, I left it aside. I dedicated myself to look for updated information and gather the necessary documentation; I resumed the investigation of the possibilities of employment and studies, and I was again focused on taking that course.

However, at that time, the Canadian Government announced the suspension of the operations of the embassy in Venezuela, due to difficulties in renewing visas for diplomatic personnel in the country.  It was said that their embassy in Colombia would attend to visa applications for Venezuelans, but later they informed that it would be the one in Mexico.  My economy was hit, I had assumed responsibilities that I had to fulfill and traveling to another country was not the most viable, so I gave up again.

Pasaron varios años y los venezolanos estaban migrando a otros lugares por la situación país del momento; como ya estaba divorciada, me plantee retomar ese deseo que por complacer a otro, pero bajo mi total responsabilidad porque así lo asumo, lo deje a un lado. Me dedique a buscar información actualizada y recabar la documentación necesaria; retome la investigación de las posibilidades de empleo y estudios, y estaba de nuevo enfocada en tomar ese rumbo.

No obstante para ese entonces, el Gobierno canadiense anuncio la suspensión de las operaciones de la embajada en Venezuela, tras dificultades para la renovación de visado al personal diplomático en el país.  Se decía que su embajada en Colombia atendería a las solicitudes de las visas para los venezolanos, pero luego informaron que sería la de México.  Mi economía estaba golpeada, había asumido responsabilidades que tenía que cumplir y viajar a otro país no era lo más viable, así que desistí otra vez.

In 2021 my sister applied for one of the programs that the Canadian government was offering to foreigners and in our research we realized that they have agreements with Latin American countries in which Venezuela is not included. 😕

In closing my anecdotes, I want to tell you that for me it is still an excellent place to live, because they take into account the education and personal growth of immigrants; despite the global pandemic it is still one of the countries with the lowest unemployment rate and is still open to receive foreign residents offering job opportunities in various careers and trades, benefiting not only them, but the companies and the economic development of that country. It also offers the possibility of speaking two languages, English and French, in addition to being a place of great cultural diversity, modern and surrounded by nature. 😃

Objectively it has its attractions, it also has its cons and aware of that, my inclination is something that goes beyond that, I vibe with Canada and that is one of the reasons I take into account when I make a decision to move from one place to another.

Lately I had not touched the subject until now that I share these lines with you, that makes me rethink where I see myself in 5 years and add this country that has attracted my attention for some time. I already follow several latin youtubers to have a current panorama opening myself to a new possibility. 🇻🇪 ✈️ 🇨🇦

En el 2021 mi hermana aplico para uno de los programas que el gobierno de Canadá estaba ofertando a los extranjeros y en nuestras investigaciones nos percatamos que tienen convenios con países latinoamericanos en los cuales no incluye a Venezuela. 😕

Ya finalizando mis anécdotas, quiero decirles que para mí sigue siendo un excelente lugar para vivir, porque toman en cuenta la educación y el crecimiento personal de los inmigrantes; a pesar de la pandemia mundial sigue siendo uno de los países con menor tasa de desempleo y sigue abierto a recibir a residentes extranjeros ofreciendo posibilidades laborales en diversas carreras y oficios, beneficiándolos no solo a ellos, sino a las empresas y al desarrollo económico de ese país. También la posibilidad de hablar dos idiomas inglés y francés, además de ser un lugar de gran diversidad de culturas, moderno  y rodeado de mucha naturaleza.😃 

Objetivamente tiene sus atractivos, también sus contras y consciente de eso, mi inclinación es algo que va más allá, vibro con Canadá y esa es una de los motivos que tengo en cuenta cuando tomo una decisión de mudarme de un lugar a otro.

Últimamente no había tocado el tema hasta ahora que comparto estas líneas con ustedes, eso me hace replantearme donde me veo en 5 años y agregar a este país que me ha llamado tanto la atención desde hace tiempo. Ya sigo a varios youtubers latinos para tener un panorama actual abriéndome a una nueva posibilidad.🇻🇪 ✈️ 🇨🇦
