# <center>Un Saludo Amigos Hivers</center>

Primero que nada un saludo con mucho cariño y respeto a toda la comunidad DIYHUB y mis mejores deseos. Es un gusto para mí estar nuevamente con ustedes y poder participar en el concurso de este mes con el tema de nuestra gran amiga la tetera #teapotcontest.
Como lo he mencionado en anteriores publicaciones, me encantan las manualidades y todo lo que tenga que ver con reciclaje, porque podemos crear algo nuevo y útil. Cuando vi la publicación sobre el tema del concurso, pasaron por mi mente algunas ideas para hacer una tetera, pero no estaba muy convencida, yo quería hacer algo que fuera útil para mi cocina y que al mismo tiempo cumpliera con el contesto.
Entonces surgió la idea de hacer un mandil o delantal, ya que es muy útil en la cocina por las funciones que cumple y decorarlo con la figura de una tetera para destacarla por ser el tema a tratar este mes. Pero también quería hacer algo fuera de lo común y por esa razón decidí poner en práctica una idea que vi en internet hace algún tiempo y que me parece genial.
En esta ocasión, les presento un trabajo de transformación de un pantalón de jeans en un mandil y lo voy a decorar con la figura de la tetera y otros detalles que darán color a la labor.

# MATERIALES
#
* Pantalón de jeans que ya no uses
* Tela para hacer forro y tiras
* Retacitos de tela de colores
* Retazo de tela para tetera
* Tijera, cinta métrica, hilos

PROCEDIMIENTO
1.- Vamos a cortar el pantalón de jeans como se muestra en la siguiente imagen, para obtener las piezas que necesitamos para elaborar el mandil.

2.- Después que cortamos, vamos a descoser las costuras del contorno de la pieza para separar la parte delantera de la parte trasera del pantalón y de esta manera, conservamos el espacio del margen de costura que vamos a necesitar como se muestra en la siguiente imagen. De esta manera la pieza no pierde su forma y tamaño original.

Así queda la pieza sin las costuras.
#
3.- Luego, vamos a tomar una de las piezas correspondientes a las piernas del pantalón y también la vamos a descoser. De este trozo de jeans, vamos a hacer la parte superior del mandil, como se muestra en las siguientes imágenes.
#

Abrimos la tela y marcamos con estas medidas para cortar la pieza de la parte superior del mandil.
#
Aquí tenemos la pieza ya cortada. Cuando unimos ambas piezas, debemos conservar la medida de altura de esta pieza, coser dejando 34 centímetros desde la pretina del pantalón que es el punto de unión hasta la línea de la parte superior que marca los 24 centímetros.
4.- Una vez que tengamos las dos piezas listas, procedemos a pasarle costura para unirlas y así formar el mandil.

5.- Después de formar el mandil, vamos a colocar un trozo de tela en la entrepierna, para llenar ese espacio y darle un mejor acabado al trabajo, como se muestra a continuación.
#
Como pueden observar, yo descosí esta parte de la pieza para poder integrar la pieza de tela que va a llenar ese espacio.
#
Primero cosemos la pieza de tela a la parte interna de la pierna usando como guía la marca de la costura anterior.
#
Luego cosemos la otra pierna, superponiendo las piezas y usando de igual manera la marca de la costura anterior. Así queda listo el detalle y queda terminada esta parte del trabajo.
6.- Para elaborar la decoración y destacar el tema principal de este mes, he dibujado una tetera en papel con la ayuda de varios objetos para utilizarla como plantilla y poder hacer la figura de tela que voy a colocar como detalle central en dicha decoración, como les muestro en siguientes imágenes.

Este dibujo lo voy a recortar para usarlo como plantilla.
#
Cortamos la figura y la pasamos a la tela.
#
Fijamos la figura de tela a la pieza superior del mandil con una bastilla para que no se mueva y la vamos a pegar haciendo un bordado por todo el contorno, como se muestra a continuación.
#
Es un bordado sencillo, solo introducimos la aguja a la misma distancia y altura, pasamos la aguja por el centro del círculo que formamos con el hilo y apretamos suavemente cuidando siempre que todos los hilos queden parejos.
#
Ya esta pegada la figura de la tetera y ahora vamos a darle color a la decoración.
Para destacar la imagen de la tetera, voy hacer un bordado en color negro con punto de cadeneta en todo el contorno, justo al lado del borde y en los espacios internos donde es necesario para dar vida a la figura. En las siguientes imágenes muestro como hacer el punto del bordado.

Para comenzar hacer el punto de bordado en cadeneta, insertamos la aguja en la línea que vamos a trabajar y damos la primera puntada, pasando la aguja por el centro del círculo formado por el hilo y cerrar.
#
Luego insertamos la aguja en el centro del primer punto formado como se muestra en esta imagen, tratando siempre de que las puntadas sean del mismo tamaño y cerramos de la misma manera.
#
Siempre que hacemos la puntada, formamos un aro con el hilo y pasamos la aguja por el centro, de esa manera se va formando la cadeneta.
#
Aquí podemos observar como se va formando la cadeneta y en la siguiente imagen se muestra el trabajo del bordado terminado.
#
Para darle color y que se vea más bonita la tetera, coloque esta cinta como parte de la decoración.
#
Para terminar con la decoración, se me ocurrió hacer unas florecitas con retazos de tela, las pegue a la figura con el mismo bordado con el que trabaje todo el borde de la tetera, hice algunas hojitas como pueden ver con el punto de cadeneta y coloque un detalle en el centro de las flores. Así queda terminada la protagonista de este trabajo.

Ya tenemos el mandil con la tetera decorada.
7.- El siguiente paso será darle forma redondeada a los bordes de la parte inferior del mandil, como se muestra a continuación.
#
Medimos 14 centímetros desde el borde lateral hacia arriba y 11 centímetros desde el borde hacia el centro. Pasamos la línea y cortamos.
#
Finalizada esta parte del trabajo.
8.- El paso siguiente es realizar las tiras con las que vamos a sujetar el mandil de la pechera al cuello y en la cintura.
#
Para realizar las cintas que van a sujetar el mandil al cuello, corte dos tiras de tela de 6 centímetros de ancho por 55 centímetros de largo. Cosí la tira, luego la voltee y pase costura por ambas orillas para formar la cinta como se ve en la imagen.
#
Para realizar las cintas que sujetarán el mandil a la cintura, corte dos tiras de tela de 10 centímetros de ancho por 60 centímetros de largo. De la misma manera cosí las tiras, las voltee y pase costura por ambos bordes para formar la cinta.
#
9.- Para que no se observen los detalles de costura, bordados y cualquier otro referente a la realización del mandil, le voy a colocar un forro para darle un mejor acabado al trabajo.
#
Coloque el mandil sobre la tela, lo fije con alfileres como se observa y luego corte.
#
Como les muestro en esta imagen, coloque tela del mismo color del forro en el borde superior de la pechera para combinarlo con las cintas que sujetaran el mandil.
Como el tema principal de este trabajo es nuestra amiga la "Tetera", antes de pegar el forro al mandil, decidí agregar un detalle a la decoración colocando el nombre bordado encima de la figura y de esta manera darle protagonismo total a la misma.

En esta imagen les muestro el mandil con la bastilla en todo el contorno para fijar las piezas y unirlas con puntada zig zag en la máquina de coser. También pueden observar el nombre bordado que mencioné anteriormente.
#
En esta imagen se observa mejor el nombre, esta bordado con el punto de cadeneta ya explicado. Primero borde las letras con el hilo color vino usando 4 hebras para que quedara grueso. Luego para darle fondo y resaltar las letras, trabaje el contorno de cada una bordando con hilo negro, con el mismo punto de cadeneta pero con 2 hebras de hilo para que quedaran más finas las líneas.

Aquí se observa el forro por detrás del mandil.
10.- Para finalizar el trabajo del mandil, sólo falta agregar un detalle en todo el contorno para darle un bonito acabado. Para ello, voy a cortar tiras de tela al bies para hacer el sesgo que necesito y colocarlo en los bordes, como les muestro en siguientes imágenes.
#
Con la ayuda de una regla y un lápiz, marqué las tiras colocando la tela al bies, para que las tiras sean flexibles y al pegarlas al mandil se vayan amoldando a la forma y sea más fácil de trabajar.
#
Corte 3 tiras de 6 centímetros de ancho por 70 centímetros de largo aproximadamente, ese era el largo del trozo de tela.
#
Aquí se observa el sesgo fijado al mandil con bastilla para luego coser a máquina.
#
Cosemos en la máquina con puntada recta, dejando un margen de costura de 1 centímetro.
#
Después que cosemos el sesgo por la parte frontal del mandil, lo vamos a voltear hacia atrás y hacemos un dobladillo, pasando una bastilla para fijarlo bien y luego coser a máquina.
#
Coser con puntada recta, tratando de que la costura quede lo más cerca posible de la orilla.
#
En esta imagen les muestro el paso final en la elaboración del mandil ya realizado y se observa el acabado limpio de la labor.
#
Mandil terminado.
He terminado con el trabajo en la elaboración del mandil, pero como pueden observar aún falta colocarle las tiras que lo sujetarán a la cintura. Este detalle lo dejé para el final porque quería darle un toque original y personal a la labor.
En lugar de pegar las tiras directamente al mandil como se hace normalmente, yo voy a elaborar un cinturón con tela de jeans y agregaré las tiras de tela color vino que hice anteriormente, como les muestro en las siguientes imágenes.
#
Corte dos tiras de tela de jeans de 24 centímetros de largo por 10 centímetros de ancho.
#
Cosí una de las tiras por un solo lado, dejando un margen de costura de 1 cm y la otra la cosí por ambos lados con un margen de 0.5 centímetros, pasando la costura en forma redondeada en una de sus puntas como se observa en la imagen.
#
Volteamos ambas tiras con la ayuda de un palito de madera y le pasamos la plancha para formar bien las piezas.
#
Con la ayuda de un alfiler, saque algunos hilos de la tela para formar un flequillo como decoración del cinturón.
#
Luego, vamos a unir las tiras de jeans con las tiras de tela color vino. Para ello, introducimos la punta de la tira color vino dentro de la tira de jeans como se observa en la imagen y lo cosemos en la máquina.
#
Cosemos para asegurar ambas tiras.
#
Luego cosemos los contornos de ambas tiras de jeans para definir las piezas y formar el cinturón.
#
Para combinar el cinturón con los detalles del mandil, tomé este botón y lo forre con tela del mismo color de las tiras.

Cinturón terminado.
Ahora le voy a colocar el cinturón al mandil y les muestro como quedó el trabajo completo en la siguiente imagen.

First of all a greeting with much love and respect to all the DIYHUB community and my best wishes. It is a pleasure for me to be with you again and to be able to participate in this month's contest with the theme of our great friend the teapot #teapotcontest.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, I love crafts and everything to do with recycling, because we can create something new and useful. When I saw the post about the contest theme, some ideas to make a teapot went through my mind, but I wasn't very convinced, I wanted to make something that would be useful for my kitchen and at the same time meet the contest.
So I came up with the idea of making an apron, since it is very useful in the kitchen for the functions it fulfills and decorate it with the figure of a teapot to highlight it as the theme for this month. But I also wanted to do something out of the ordinary and for that reason I decided to put into practice an idea that I saw on the internet some time ago and that I think is great.
On this occasion, I present a work of transformation of a pair of jeans pants in an apron and I will decorate it with the figure of the tetera and other details that will give color to the work.

# MATERIALS
#
* Jeans pants that you no longer use.
* Fabric to make lining and strips.
* Pieces of colored fabric
* Piece of fabric for teapot
* Scissors, measuring tape, threads
#
#
PROCEDURE
1.- We are going to cut the jeans pants as shown in the following image, to obtain the pieces we need to make the apron.
#
#
2.- After we cut, we will unpick the seams of the contour of the piece to separate the front part from the back part of the pants and in this way, we will keep the space of the seam allowance that we will need as shown in the following image. This way the piece does not lose its original shape and size.
#
#
This is what the piece looks like without the seams.
#
3.- Next, we are going to take one of the pieces corresponding to the pant legs and we are also going to unpick it. From this piece of jeans, we are going to make the upper part of the apron, as shown in the following images.
#
#
We open the fabric and mark with these measurements to cut the piece for the upper part of the apron.
#
Here we have the piece already cut. When we join both pieces, we must keep the height measurement of this piece, sew leaving 34 centimeters from the waistband of the pants which is the point of union to the line of the upper part that marks the 24 centimeters.
#
4.- Once we have the two pieces ready, we proceed to sew them together to form the apron.
#
#
5.- After forming the apron, we are going to place a piece of fabric in the crotch, to fill that space and give a better finish to the work, as shown below.
#
As you can see, I unpicked this part of the piece in order to integrate the piece of fabric that will fill that space.
#
First we sew the fabric piece to the inside of the leg using the previous seam allowance as a guide.
#
Then we sew the other leg, overlapping the pieces and using in the same way the mark of the previous seam. This way the detail is ready and this part of the work is finished.
#
6.- To elaborate the decoration and highlight the main theme of this month, I have drawn a teapot on paper with the help of several objects to use it as a template and to make the fabric figure that I will place as a central detail in the decoration, as I show in the following images.
#
I am going to cut out this drawing to use it as a template.
#
We cut the figure and transfer it to the fabric.
#
We fix the fabric figure to the top piece of the apron with a bastille so that it does not move and we are going to glue it by making an embroidery all around the contour, as shown below.
#
It is a simple embroidery, just introduce the needle at the same distance and height, pass the needle through the center of the circle formed with the thread and gently tighten it, always making sure that all the threads are even.
#
The teapot figure is already glued and now we are going to give color to the decoration.
#
To highlight the image of the teapot, I am going to make a black embroidery with chain stitch all around, right next to the edge and in the internal spaces where it is necessary to give life to the figure. In the following images I show how to make the embroidery stitch.
#
To start making the embroidery chain stitch, we insert the needle in the line we are going to work and we make the first stitch, passing the needle through the center of the circle formed by the thread and close it.
#
Then we insert the needle in the center of the first stitch formed as shown in this image, always trying to make the stitches of the same size and close in the same way.
#
Whenever we make the stitch, we form a ring with the thread and pass the needle through the center, thus forming the chain stitch.
#
Here we can see how the chain stitch is being formed and the following image shows the finished embroidery work.
#
To add color and make the teapot look prettier, place this ribbon as part of the decoration.
#
To finish with the decoration, I thought of making some little flowers with scraps of fabric, I glued them to the figure with the same embroidery with which I worked all the edge of the teapot, I made some leaves as you can see with the chain stitch and placed a detail in the center of the flowers. This is how the protagonist of this work is finished.
#
We already have the apron with the decorated teapot.
#
7.- The next step is to round the edges of the bottom of the apron, as shown below.
#
We measure 14 centimeters from the side edge upwards and 11 centimeters from the edge to the center. Pass the line and cut.
#
This part of the work is completed.
#
8.- The next step is to make the straps with which we are going to attach the apron from the breastplate to the neck and waist.
#
To make the ribbons that will hold the apron to the neck, cut two strips of fabric 6 centimeters wide by 55 centimeters long. Sew the strip, then flip it over and sew along both edges to form the ribbon as shown in the picture.
#
To make the ribbons that will hold the apron to the waist, cut two strips of fabric 10 centimeters wide by 60 centimeters long. I sewed the strips in the same way, turned them over and sewed along both edges to form the ribbon.
#
#
9.- So that the details of sewing, embroidery and any other details related to the making of the apron cannot be seen, I am going to place a lining to give a better finish to the work.
#
Place the apron on the fabric, pin as shown and then cut.
#
As shown in this picture, I placed fabric in the same color as the lining on the upper edge of the breastplate to combine it with the ribbons that will hold the apron.
#
As the main theme of this work is our friend the "Teapot", before gluing the lining to the apron, I decided to add a detail to the decoration by placing the embroidered name on top of the figure and thus give total prominence to it.
#
In this picture I show you the apron with the bastilla all around to fix the pieces and join them with zig zag stitch in the sewing machine. You can also see the embroidered name I mentioned before.
#
In this picture you can see the name better, it is embroidered with the chain stitch already explained. First I embroidered the letters with the wine colored thread using 4 strands so that it would be thick. Then to give background and highlight the letters, I worked the outline of each one embroidering with black thread, with the same chain stitch but with 2 strands of thread to make the lines thinner.

10.- To finish the work on the apron, I just need to add a detail all around to give it a nice finish. To do this, I will cut strips of fabric on the bias to make the bias I need and place it on the edges, as shown in the following images.
#
With the help of a ruler and a pencil, I marked the strips by placing the fabric on the bias, so that the strips are flexible and when glued to the apron, they will mold to the shape and be easier to work with.
#
Cut 3 strips of 6 centimeters wide by 70 centimeters long approximately, that was the length of the piece of fabric.
#
Here you can see the bias binding fixed to the apron with bastille for later machine sewing.
#
We sew on the machine with a straight stitch, leaving a seam allowance of 1 centimeter.
#
After sewing the bias binding on the front of the apron, we will turn it backwards and make a hem, passing a bastille to fix it well and then sew by machine.
#
Sew with a straight stitch, making sure that the seam is as close to the edge as possible.
#
In this image I show you the final step in the elaboration of the apron already made and you can see the clean finish of the work.

I have finished with the work of making the apron, but as you can see I still need to place the straps that will hold it to the waist. I left this detail for the end because I wanted to give an original and personal touch to the work.
Instead of gluing the strips directly to the apron as it is normally done, I am going to make a belt with jeans fabric and I will add the strips of wine-colored fabric that I made previously, as I show you in the following images.

Cut two strips of denim fabric 24 centimeters long by 10 centimeters wide.
#
I sewed one of the strips on one side only, leaving a seam allowance of 1 cm and the other one I sewed on both sides with a seam allowance of 0.5 centimeters, passing the seam in a rounded shape at one of its ends as shown in the image.
#
We flip both strips with the help of a wooden stick and pass the iron over them to form the pieces well.
#
With the help of a pin, pull some threads out of the fabric to form a fringe as a decoration for the belt.
#
Next, we are going to join the strips of jeans with the strips of wine-colored fabric. To do this, we insert the end of the wine-colored strip inside the jeans strip as shown in the image and sew it in the machine.
#
We sew to secure both strips.
#
Then we sew the contours of both strips of jeans to define the pieces and form the belt.
#
To match the belt with the details of the apron, I took this button and lined it with fabric in the same color as the straps.
