Esto puede influir en el deterioro de la calidad de vida, y también existe un alto riesgo de complicaciones en otros sistemas del cuerpo.
El edema se caracteriza por la acumulación de líquido entre los tejidos y puede reflejarse en las extremidades superiores e inferiores. Existen diferentes factores de riesgo para su desarrollo, incluyendo una dieta con exceso de sodio, enfermedades cardiovasculares, renales y hepáticas, así como algunos medicamentos. disfunciones en las venas de las piernas como insuficiencia venosa.

Indudablemente, el edema genera disminución de la movilidad, trastornos respiratorios, cardíacos y en la mayoría de las funciones fisiológicas, se requiere una gran vigilancia en situaciones de emergencia, el manejo correcto por parte del personal de salud puede ayudar a reducir la sobrecarga de líquidos retenido una vez que logra recuperarse es importante promover un estilo de vida saludable especialmente en aquellos pacientes con enfermedades crónicas y de edad avanzada.
