<center>  Los elementos formes de la sangre se conforman por eritrocitos, globulos blancos y plaquetas cada uno de ellos cumplen funciones importante en el organismo como lo es el transporte de oxigeno, forman parte del sistema inmunologico como defensores ante ciertas infecciones, asi mismo cumplen funciones en la coagulación evitando las hemorragias.  Dentro de las alteraciones hematologicas encontramos la pancitopenia es un trastorno caracterizado por la disminucion de estos elementos formes sanguineos es decir de eritrocitos, globulos blancos y plaquetas la disminucion de estos valores se pueden evidenciar a traves de pruebas de laboratorio como el hemograma completo asi mismo puede ser una manifestacion de ciertas enfermedades principalmente neoplásicas.  La pancitopenia se puede presentar en pacientes con ciertas infecciones, sepsis, por enfermedades del sistema inmunologico como lupus eritematoso sistemico, VIH, debido a la administracion de fármacos citotóxicos es decir aquellos que son utilizados en la quimioterapia, por sindrome mieloproliferativo agudos y crónicos, un ejemplo es la leucemia aguda, por síndromes linfoproliferativos como lo es el linfoma no Hodgkin, este trastorno es frecuente en pacientes con neoplasias hematológicas.  Las principales manifestaciones clinicas que se pueden presentar tenemos, inflamacion de ganglios linfaticos (adenopatia) hipertermia, palidez cutanea, sangrado a traves de mucosas y via nasal, hematomas, manifestaciones asociadas al sindrome anémico como lo es irritabilidad, cefaleas, disnea, hepatoesplenomegalia (inflamacion de bazo e higado).  El diagnostico es realizado por el medico a traves de la anamnesis, examen fisico, pruebas de laboratorio como hemograma entre otros estudios sanguineos, asi como tambien es una opcion la puncion de medula osea.
