<center>  Los diuréticos son unos de los fármacos mas utilizados en los servicios de hospitalización en pacientes con algunas enfermedades tanto agudas como cronicas, sin embargo estos fármacos son contraindicados en algunos pacientes ademas de que se podrian presentar algunas reacciones adversas que ponen en riesgo la vida del paciente.  Los diuréticos son fármacos encargados de liberar principalmente liquidos del cuerpo, sodio, potasio, estos incrementan la produccion de orina permitiendo asi eliminar mayor cantidad de liquidos retenidos, por lo general son indicados en el paciente con enfermedades como hipertension arterial, insufiencia cardiaca, edemas, estos fármacos deben administrarse con precaucion en el paciente adulto mayor debido a que presentan mayor riesgo de desarrollar reacciones adversas.  Entre su clasificacion encontramos principalmente los diuréticos de Asa tales como el furosemida uno de los mas utilizados su presentacion son ampollas de 20mg y pueden ser indicados de acuerdo a las necesidades del paciente como todo farmaco posee sus beneficios pero tambien sus riesgos y el principal en estos casos es el riesgo de desequilibrio hidroelectrolítico.  Tambien encontramos dentro de su clasificacion el grupo de las tiazidas y uno de los mas comunes es la hidroclorotiazida, otro de ellos es la espironolactona perteneciente al grupo de los ahorradores de potasio o distales principalmente su administracion es via oral de acuerdo a los requerimientos del paciente.  Es importante destacar algunos de estos diureticos pueden afectar la funcion renal del paciente afectando asi la filtracion glomerular, ademas de generar desequilibrio hidroelectrolíticos como lo es la hipercalcemia, hipernatremia, hiponatremia, hipomagnesemia, ademas de algunos trastornos del equilibrio acido base, todo esto por consecuencia de la administracion prolongada.  Como personal de enfermeria es importante vigilar signos de reacciones adversas generales como a nivel gastrointestinal, cutaneo, visual, neurologicos, ademas de vigilar signos del desequilibrio electrolítico, por otra parte debemos administrar el medicamento de forma correcta en caso de ser via intravenosa no mezclar con otros fármacos, realizar balance hidrico, vigilar el edema, control de peso diario.
