To an old Christian one day came a young man to ask for advice and to pray together. Being touched by the Word of God, he wanted to live for now a beautiful, clean and pleasant life for the Creator ...
From word to word, the young man said,
- Christian, I'm pretty bad. I'd like to change, but I can not. I'm slightly losing patience. When I get mad, I talk nasty and more. I tried to change, but I could not. However, I hope that after I grow up, I will be able to change, do not I?
"No," replied the old man. Come with me!
He led the young man behind the cell, where the forest began, and said,
- Look at that, you know what it is?
- Yes, Christian, a young broom.
- Retract it!
The young man pulled the bracelet immediately. Going forward, the old man stopped beside a taller breeze, almost like a man.
- Now get this one off.
The boy worked with that pomp, but with a little effort he eventually managed to get him out. By showing him a slightly larger fir tree, the Christian also said,
- Draw that one now.
- But it's pretty big, I can not alone.
- Go and call someone.
As the young man turned around with two more young boys, they drew what they pulled out of the tree and, with much difficulty, finally managed to get him out.
- Now pull the towering tree out of there.
- Father, but that's a big and old tree. We could never pull him out of the roots, even if we were a hundred men.
- You see now, son? Did you understand that the evil grip of the soul is the same? Any flaw or impotence seems at first innocuous and unimportant, but with time it gets roots, grows and takes hold of your soul more and more. While still small, you can take it alone. Later, however, you will need help, but be careful not to let your evil fall into your soul, for then no one will be able to take it out. Never refrain from doing your soul and life clean, for later it will be much harder.

"In vain we cut off the branches of sin outside us, if the roots that grow again will remain within us."

Once a well-known believer once lived for his clean and pleasant life. One day, when praying, he called on God, saying,
- God, I would be able to do anything, absolutely anything, for love for You. Make me try and see that I'm telling the truth.
- Get a pot, say a roaring voice, fill it with oil, put it on your head, cross the square and then the city, street street, and turn around, but beware, do not waste any drop oil.
The man filled the bowl, put it on his head and started with his arms in balance, striking every step: "no drop to waste!"
It was a fairy day, and the man crossed the whole city, street street, without losing any drop of oil.
Thankfully he came back and sat down at the church. He took the icons as a witness to his success, but silence. And the icons have remained silent in the days to come. Dripping, the man with his head on his knees, wept bitterly, and repeated between the sighs: "yet no spat was not wasted."
Then a voice was heard again:
- What do I need for your oil for you, man?
What can I do, God, with a pot of oil?
How many times, while you were carrying the bowl on your head, how many times, man, did you think of Me? Never!
That's the way he was, the man only thought of the oil.
"You'd better have overturned the pot and you would have thought of Me with love.
Put away the trials that make you famous, and truly love Me

The incessant prayer of a simple woman

There was a woman who came to a Christian to tell her the trouble. She asked him, "Brother, how about my salvation? I do not know many prayers by heart, because I have not been given to school and I do not know how to read. " The brother asked her:

"And do not you pray?", To which she said, "I pray, how can I not pray." "And how do you pray?" "Here's how. When I sweep through my house, I say in my mind, "Lord, cleanse my soul, as I cleanse the garbage from the house." When I wash my laundry, I say again, "Wash, O Lord, the sin of my heart, so that it may be beautiful, like a clean and washed laundry." When I do anything else I say the same words. " The woman finally asked, "Brother, is this a good prayer?" And the brother said to her, "Just pray for all your life from now on."
