El ser del palo quemado / The being of the burned stick

Un tronco había sido quemado
negro el pobre había quedado,
seguro fue un cerillo malintencionado
que lo prendió sin cuidado
y sin un motivo comprobado.

El palo estaba negro,
con trozos de ceniza en su cuerpo
y entre su infausto pecho
se veía unos ojos bellos,
que miraban con anhelo.

black the poor thing had been left,
sure it was an ill-intentioned match
that set it on fire carelessly
and without a proven motive.

>The stick was black,
with pieces of ash on his body
and between his unhappy chest
you could see beautiful eyes,
that looked longingly.

Con cautela me acerqué
no niego que titubeé
me arrepentí, me alejé
y fue cuando saltó aquel ser,
con sus ojos llenos de fe.

Justo y exacto,
cayó en mis brazos,
él se contoneaba agraciado,
emocionado de haberme encontrado
pero yo no lo estaba buscando.

I do not deny that I hesitated
I regretted it, I moved away
and that was when that being jumped,
with his eyes full of faith.

>Just and exactly,
fell into my arms,
he wiggled gracefully,
excited to have found me
but I was not looking for him.

Desde aquel día me acompaña,
sin miedo sube y baja,
cuando hace frío entre el cabello se guarda
y si hay sol, sobre la cabeza se para,
para abrigarse en las mañanas.


Es un personaje amigable,
ningún daño hace,
sobrevivió a las adversidades
por eso lo dejo en estos lares,
dándole la oportunidad de renovarse.

to keep warm in the mornings.

does no harm,
