What I saw and was taught while growing up about money is beyond paper, you don't even need to be told....it hard to make, it's not easy to save and lots more, money was literally the reason why it is only on a day like this(sunday) that we can eat rice or pounded yam atimes.

So, that was just it, all the advises back then was...try save your earnings, avoid luxurious lifestyle, don't spend to impress, go to school, get a job snd be faithful to it, and they often end it with something like...*you see those rich people, there hands/money are not clean*, they meant they have done something shady. Of a truth, back then, I live by those words, but then...life came around. 







There was a time I saved up for something, I wanted to borrow and buy the stuff, but then I thought against it, I even wanted to get it on loan or stuff, but again I thought it's best to save up for it, which I did, I saved for almost a year, I denied myself a lot of things just to be able to and when I finally decide to break my bank, cash out 😋, and make use of it, inflation had set in, prices of almost everything had doubled, and my money didn't.... It felt like a slap on the face, my money had been sitting in that box for month doing nothing, and I thought I am being wise, it was then I realized that ehat I was being taught about money was just to survive, not grow.







I knew my mum meant well all those times she do advise me to not borrow or take financial risks. I saw her turn down opportunities because of fear, I saw how she struggled every time rent is due. I watched how she did a whole lot of things because she believed money is scarce and at the same time dangerous....






Now I know better, I no longer believe that saving in a box or a bank is enough.....We all see how the naira keeps shrinking. Also, I no longer believe that school is the only way to success, let me be more real here, I don't know much, but the little I know about finance, crypto and such was from hive posts and YouTube channels, I never learnt that in a classroom. Also, I believe you don't need to rob a bank, be a thief, go into fraud to become successful, this space, *hive*, has really opened my eyes to a lot, I’ve seen a lot of people here create wealth with words, creativity and honesty. These are people who don't do fraud or *yahoo*, they are just honest, smart, creative and informed people..






The old advise definitely meant well, but the time we are in now is beyond just surviving, we need to grow, multiply, learn, unlearn and explore, money is a tool, it's power. I really wish someone had told me all of this earlier, now I know and I won't keep quiet nor will I shut the door and myself... I will speak, write and also make sure to save someone from that old trap.

I’m still a work in progress, I'm just starting, I don’t have it all figured out, I’m still learning and unlearning. Also, I'm using this opportunity to seek for more new knowledge, for helpful hands, for opportunities and all, I still need to be  taught a whole lot of things, I'm not ashamed to voice that out. I really want to understand how things work, I want to contribute as well, I want to learn, I want to understand money as well and help build a life/legacy that generations after me will be proud of.
