Today I would like to discuss an issue that has accompanied me from the very beginning on Steemit. It's the wonderful
## Spirit of Steemit!
I encountered the Spirit of Steemit at he very beginning and it made me feel right at home on Steemit.
#### (This post is a translation of my German post https://steemit.com/deutsch/@martinamartini/the-spirit-of-steemit-wie-uns-statistisches-feedback-hilft-unsere-freunde-auf-steemit-noch-mehr-zu-schaetzen)
What is the essence of Steemit that characterizes this young community? It is "learning and sharing", i. e. learning and passing on what you have learned.
One can characterize this attitude to some extent with the word "helpfulness", but the "Spirit of Steemit" is more than that. It also includes the will to constantly learn and develop, and to make progress for the benefit of the community.
I found a vivid, somewhat older contribution on Steemit that illustrates this attitude:
###### The Spirit of Steemit - Sharing what you learned
https://steemit.com/minnowsunite/@positiveteem/the-spirit-of-steemit-learning-and-sharing
I was also allowed to experience innumerable assistance from the very beginning and so I have long been inspired by the desire to equal those idealists who helped me since my (real) start in December 2017.
I am infinitely grateful for the fact that Steemit is based on this essential element of prosperous coexistence. I've been looking for such a community for such a long time.
Our old world system in which fear, envy and competition dominate, and blocking and destroying the efforts of good-willing people seems to be the normal state od being... this system will sink into insignificance, as soon as the advantages of unconditional togetherness are finally grasped and lived, like on Steemit!
In other communities I have already experienced some beautiful, pleasant and touching moments of this cooperative spirit. But only moments.

Open Source and Creative Commons should also be mentioned here as hopegiving new ways. To me, they are messengers of a new era.
A wonderful, albeit fleeting and somewhat distorted foretaste for me were the small and large Goa festivals I have been taking part in in recent years. The Ozora Festival in Hungary, in which I took part several times, is one of the best known of them.

The "Spirit of Goa" is also one of tolerance, togetherness and giving, a precursor of the "Spirit of Steemit"... The feeling of unity and community at the Psytrance festivals is watered down a little bit by the increased influx of general public. This lovable giving and receiving is always limited to just a few days of the festival, but this is not about Goa festivals. (That would be another nice topic, I just noticed.)
Here on Steemit there is this "spirit" all year round. Everyone contributes something and there is no hourly rate for a consultation! The pleasant culture of conversation also takes away the shyness of asking questions. In short, there is team spirit and a fine working atmosphere. Social get-togethers and humour also play a role.

Yesterday, for example, during my nightly explorations of the Steemit universe, I discovered this nice contribution, a Steemit jingle:
https://steemit.com/dsound/@playitforward/20180227t203711098z-steemit-jingle
While searching for information about the „secrets of upvoting“, I came across some new contributions from @dobartim, who has worked his way up on Steemit very quickly and now supports the small fish in the big ocean decisively.
Here are links to some of his worth reading articles:

Recently I even ended up late in the evening on his Discord Channel "Customer Witness" https://discordapp.com/channels/415608386990768149/415608387460399116 with a subchannel "Steemit School-Posts" and listened to voices all of a sudden. Not what you might think...
I accidentally slipped into a virtual meetingup on this channel and heard how @dobartim encouraged newcomers from Nigeria. I also happily stammered a few words into the chat, which was just closing...
Yes, new worlds are constantly opening up on Steemit and I can only recommend to all Steemians, look around, don't stubbornly post one article after the other, fixed only on a small environment, but take time to explore again and again. You will discover one treasure after another for yourselves!
### Gratitude
The Spirit of Steemit only works with gratitude. When you give from the head to receive, it is completely different than when there is a feeling of gratitude and our giving flows from this gratitude. I don't know if I've made myself understood. By this I mean that a fulfilling giving and taking, which flows so beautifully, and which is connected with joy and gratitude.

#### How do I express my gratitude?
The newcomers are almost meaningless beings in the great Steemit Ocean at first. They soon notice this when they have read in a little bit about voting power and reputation, or when their upvotes no longer have a value or when the bandwidth problem arises for the first time.
But from the very beginning, you can show your gratitude despite your tiny purse, especially with good comments. One will also practice oneself in upvotes and resteems within the bounds of the possible and thus express one's good will....
Little by little you can give something to the community. Return begins. First and foremost, you can show your engagement with your effort to ensure the best possible quality and originality of the posts and through motivating other Steemians.

Then it goes on, depending on the resources available:
Like @playitforward (mentiones above) you can create a Steemit Jingle or maybe a hymn, a reference book like @oliverschmid, tutorials like @theaustrianguy, to name just a few examples, or provide logos, set up bots or pass on Steemit-Meetups knowledge in seminar form, how @travelamateur would do, or create virtual and real Steemit schools.
In February 2018, I started to collect data about "Steemit trainers" (no official term!) and about institutions that impart knowledge about Steemit. I am doing this on special pages of my Steemit Burgenland Academy.
This material is on a Wordpress blog. The website is created to serve for a better networking and they are available for all Steemians.

English (lightly leaner) http://steemitacademyenglish.wordpress.com
#### More tips about tools like the ones I'm going to describe here can be found here for the German-speaking community: https://steemitburgenlandacademy.wordpress.com/useful-guides-anleitungen/notifications-verstaendigungen/
The links collected in the mentioned page, of course, are useful for all of us.

### There is also other need for action!
Since there is a lot of growth on Steemit lately, I keep discovering new ideas and good articles that are not always well received, and so I take my time to give tips as much as I can.
I think if everyone does it in that way, none of those who comes to Steemit, making a clear effort but initially received too little attention, will be left behind.
I also make sure that my blog, which specializes in a wide range of cultural topics, is always full of surprises and useful tips. This is another way of sharing...

Steemit is very complex, so it takes some time to figure out what's important here. As you should see right away, I meanwhile went into the next round - again, I discovered something new.
### Steem Supply
Only yesterday I came across the tool called Steem Supply. If you already know it, please skip this section! Som eof you will use it and for some like me this tool s new.
Often I had been surprised that my postings suddenly showed relatively high rewards. First there were a lot of small upotes from my dear fellow fishers and plankton enthusiasts, which I am always very happy about. But then suddenly there's a lot more, but who was it? And the not unjustified question, how much was it?
So, for lack of profound knowledge, I looked at the miracle that presented itself to my eyes, but I puzzled and wondered who I owe the generous support to.
Since I am a person who appreciates help very much, perhaps because I love helping myself so much. Being a tiny fish in the Steemit ocean, I want to help at least by paying attention to my supporters who have helped me a lot and still continue to do so!
So, finally I found Steem Supply from @dragosrua and I can only say that those were surprises!

Here is the introduction of the creator of Steem Supply:

From now on I can check which of my posts get the most attention and which tags reach the highest ratings. In my case, in the current statistics it is the more detailed German-language articles that are clearly ahead of the others.

But most importantly, I find out at Steem Supply who supports me the most. And when I click on the links of my most recent posts, I see diagrams that show me who voted for me the most, when I go to "Content Insights". However, I find my 20 top supporters by clicking on "Social Insights". But also my most loyal followers.
Yes, this tool even shows me the daily average of my posts and comments. A Rewards Calculator shows me how to split a eeward by means of calculation examples. Regulators can be used to set SBD and Steem courses. All quite enlightening.

It also shows me the army of my followers, who are inactive. 99 out of over 500 voted for me. Which reminds me vehemently that I have neglected my network for reasons of time in the last few days. Yeah, who did I vote for? How many do I follow? A little soul-searching is now in order and I will spend some thoughtful days!
The overview of my Top 20 supporters as well as the list of my 20 most loyal followers has opened my eyes. Or rather, I was speechless.
I had not really noticed some of my biggest supporters and my most loyal followers so far!
### Steemit Reports
Another tool called Steemit Reports complements these insights!
http://www.steemreports.com

Here I can also see in a diagram who voted on my posts and how much. Here at Steem Report, a colourful pie chart is provided.
The possibility to generate a word cloud is also funny. The most common word I have used in my recent articles is "and"! Oops, just one more time! Here's my result.

If you want to have some fun, here is the link to the word cloud formation: http://www.steemreports.com/steem-word-clouds/
Well, it looks like I'm starting to grow out of the playroom on Steemit, which is shown by the fact that I'm starting to perceive my friends and supporters correctly and learn to react appropriately to them!
In gratitude for these two valuable tools I breathe deeply once again and have decided to take care of my contacts on a completely new website.

### Steem Supply
The following may be a joke to many more experienced of you, but forgive me! The entrancesto Steemit are different. While having explored other corners of Steemit already explored quite well,I came across the tool called Steem Supply only the day before. If you already know this tool, please skip this section!

Since I am a person who appreciates help very much, perhaps because I love helping myself so much, I would like to thank "Sardine" or "Elritze" or whatever I am on Steemit, at least by paying attention to my supporters who have helped me a lot and continue to do so!

In gratitude for these two valuable tools I breathe deeply once again :) and have decided to take care of my contacts on a completely new base.
### Now I can cultivate my Steemit friendships better and more intensively
... and I'll do it too!
This does not mean, of course, that I am now focusing my attention only on Steemians, who are financially rewarding me. Of course they're good for me. But it is just as important that we little ones, who find each other on Steemit, help each other. Just like outside in the big wide world it is not just money that counts...

That's why it is now my duty to search through older contributions and comments from time to time. These are informative "walks". They remind us to stop by here and there and make ourselves felt as friends. (It's nothing new for people who are already active in other communities!)
If you browse through my blog, you will find it confirmed that money isn't in the foreground for me. I invest a lot of time in contributions that are close to my heart, even though I know from the outset that the content will only appeal to a small minority.
But I'd have to lie if I said I'm not happy about rewards!
#### Yes, that's it for this time and I hope that there was once again some useful suggestion for you! Thank you all!
