Hi everyone! A few days ago I presented one of my year-end works with some of my sketches. I also shared a thought process. There was a question about how to learn to sketch fast, but right. So, I wrote an overview.

As a student I had to create a whole project with a realisation every 6 months. We got a topic, for example “Dreams” and we had to find our own way to represent it. Some students had problems with a search and sketch process. They couldn´t organize their ideas, they didn´t k now where to start. 

## For easier explanation, we can set a task:

TOPIC: “The miracle”
REALIZATION: Painting


### Mantal process

First there is an idea, so we need to think about “the miracle”. The best start is a brainstorming. Write in points the first words you connect with the topic. Word after word, you will find out, there is much more you would think it can be. You can write down your feelings when the word “miracle” is said. 

You can do it for about 3 minutes. When you feel there is nothing more, just do something else and return after a while. Maybe you will be surprised by some new ideas you will come with.

The next step - associations. We know, that we should create a painting. So, there will be probably some shapes and colors, maybe some objects, people, animals... What do you connect with the miracle? 

This step brings us a devision. There will be many ways, so we can write them in corners, or boxes and maybe write some short title above them. You will find out they are connected with the words you wrote in the first step. Maybe some of the words will be the best titles. It is also kind of brainstorming - new words and connections will appear… After this we will be prepared for the drawing.

It is important to have a general outlook, because the more you know, the more connections and possibilities will appear. So knowledge is power also in art.
