Freedom: Dying In Silent

Freedom of speech is the ability to express our opinions, belief, and ideas without the fear of being chastised. But in our world today, the freedom of speech is being restricted. There are some things that we will say and be punished for it, that's to show that the law guiding freedom of speech has been dilapidated. Freedom of speech is only directed to the few set of people who are in power while the rest die in silence.

**when freedom of speech is restricted, it is going to affect the citizen negatively, and here are some of the effects:**

- people will be more cautious of what they plan to say, they hold their tongues to prevent being punished even when things are going wrong.

- It's total authoritarianism. The government will have its way without you, and the citizen will not have the power to say anything about it. Even when we try to talk, we will not be heard. Even the crime against us will go unpunished. So people will rather keep quiet so that their feelings will not be hurt.

- When people are not satisfied with what is happening, they will not be able to tell it. They will be caught up in the tension of what will happen if they react to the current predicament. They will not be able to tell what they want because they feel that their opinions will turn against them. And when this tension rises in a totalitarian society, it might lead to violence, just like the massacre that happened in Nigeria in the year 2020.

If one is not made to speak, it means we are dead, it very sad that people die before they are heard. People can no longer express how they feel and once you try to talk, you might be in trouble. Sometimes I begin to wonder when our voice will be heard without being punished... Our voice has been hidden for the past years and things are becoming worse ... I just wish for a change***
