In the last post we commented on how difficult it is to find intelligent life on other planets and even on earth and today we will talk about the possibility that the planet Venus, here practically next door, can harbor life.

>En el último post comentábamos lo difícil que resulta encontrar vida inteligente en otros planetas e incluso en la tierra y hoy hablaremos de la posibilidad de que el planeta Venus, aquí al lado prácticamente,  pueda albergar vida.

Obviously when we talk about life on Venus we are not talking about any critter or plant but we are talking about the possibility that there is some type of microorganism capable of surviving in the acidic and oxygen-deprived atmosphere that surrounds Venus.

>Obviamente al hablar de vida en Venus no hablamos ningún bicho ni planta sino que hablamos de la posibilidad de que exista algún tipo de microorganismos capaces de sobrevivir en la atmósfera ácida y carente de oxígeno que rodea Venus.

To make this claim they relied on what experts call biosignatures or biomarkers, molecules that are not normally found if there is no biological activity, the biomarker found is called Phosphine

Phosphine is a colorless and flammable gas, extremely poisonous and that they say smells like garlic or rotten fish, which normally comes from the degeneration of organic matter, which leads to the deduction of the possible existence of microorganisms in the atmosphere of Venus.

>La fosfina es un gas incoloro e inflamable, extremadamente venenoso y que según dicen huele a ajo o pescado podrido, que normalmente proviene de la degeneración de la materia orgánica por lo que se deduce la posible existencia de microorganismos en la atmósfera de Venus.

Venus is a planet very similar to ours, a rocky planet with a size similar to that of the earth and that in its day could host oceans but, for some unknown reason, it has become a furnace with a temperature of 500 ºC on its surface, what would have evaporated the oceans and a super toxic atmosphere.

>Venus es un planeta muy similar al nuestro, un planeta rocoso con un tamaño parecido al de la tierra y que en su día pudo albergar océanos pero, por alguna razón desconocida se ha convertido en un horno con una temperatura de 500 ºC en su superficie lo habría evaporado los océanos, y una atmósfera super tóxica.

Curiously, in the atmosphere the temperature is a pleasant 30 ºC and that is why it would be possible for these microorganisms to survive although they would have to be able to survive in an atmosphere with 90% acidity.

Now the next step is to send a probe into the atmosphere of Venus and take a few samples to be able to analyze if life can really exist in an environment so hostile to any type of living creature.

>Ahora el siguiente paso es mandar una sonda hasta la atmósfera de Venus y tomar una cuantas muestras para poder analizar si realmente puede existir vida en un ambienta tan hostil para cualquier tipo de criatura viviente.

And who knows if one day they send a probe to the surface and discover the remains of an ancient civilization scorched by global warming and we are the offspring of those who were able to escape burning.
