One line recap ([of previous module](https://steemit.com/psychology/@maverickfoo/the-science-of-motivation-or-part-7-communication-sort-when-you-communicate-do-you-focus-on-the-substance-or-flair))
So yesterday we look at the different kinds communicators, and I'm sure you have discovered which type of communication motivates you more. Remember, it doesn't mean one type is better than the other, as it's very audience-specific.
Today, let's look at another aspect of workplace motivation - **your work environment**. *Are you someone who like to be left alone, or you are more excited when there's people around you?*
### Objectives:
- Learn what kind of work environment motivates you the most - around people or without them?

When it comes to your workplace, do you find that you’re like Batman in his Batcave, or part of the X-Men family?
In that case, allow me to introduce to you, Bruce and Peter (no relations to Batman or Colossus).
Bruce is smart, a high achiever and overall an excellent employee. Problem is, he likes to **work alone**. In every office that the company shifts to, he will always find either a corner (dark) or a room to his own. Sometimes, he would even go work his favourite cafe (that no one from his office knows where exactly).
Now, Bruce is not anti-social in any way. He’ll be at office parties and functions, and people love interacting with him. It’s just that for him to focus well and hit all his targets, he needs to be left alone. As a matter of fact, he’s more motivated when he’s left alone.

Peter, on the other hand, is the direct opposite of Bruce. Peter must always have social interactions around him for him to work effectively. He enjoys working with colleagues, **being surrounded by people**. One time when he’s whole department went for a work trip and he had to take care of the office, he literally moved his desk to another department!
Funny thing is, Peter actually gets work done when he’s surrounded by people, much to Bruce’s amazement. He would talk to his colleagues for a while, help with minor tasks, grab them some snacks from the pantry on the way back to his cubicle, and boom, his work all done.
### Action Step or Recap:
So which profile are you? Are you more a lone-wolf like Bruce, or a social butterfly like Peter? Now, this is no way a reflection on your relationship-building skills. In both profiles, you can be a sociable person (unless you choose not to). It’s just that when it comes to your best works, are they all done when you’re alone or around people?
