So here I was just writing my appraisal for work, listening to some lo-fi music minding my own business when from the corner of my eye I see a video about Violet Evergarden. If you have not watched it there will be no major spoilers in my post but if you watch the video there will be a ton of spoilers so some warning on that. Violet Evergarden is an anime about a young woman who returns from the war injured and being reintroduced to civilian life as she is discharged from the army. The last order from her superior is to live. There she goes on to become an auto memory doll or a person who writes letters for someone else and is tragically moving and so beautifully rendered. So give it a chance. I am an Army brat and I remember my stepdad talking about being deployed to fight insurgents and how it changed him. There would be times that I would see him have this far away look as he might be remembering a memory of a day that happened so long ago. So I have a soft spot for vets and working as a recruiter that often gets to talk to veterans as they transition from the military to civilian life just hearing 11 Bravo talk about his experiences and how he could relate to this anime girl as she goes to a journey of discovery and healing just made me listen. That a lot of them don't know how to get help either of being ashamed, no means to get help or even as not in the right frame to ask for it. We have people who go through their lives lost, feeling like an outsider looking into the civilian world, longing for those days of brotherhood and of order amidst all the chaos that is happening in their lives. Hearing them say how they are taught to push down their emotions and this leaves a lot of them seem stiff and uncaring when in fact its been something that was drilled down making them emotionally stunted. This makes having relationships hard as often their civilian love ones just won't get it. Because as seen in the comments section in the video you simply do not talk about Episode 10. Oh boy they went there and talked about Vet suicide and it was so raw and emotional that my chest hurt when I was listening to 11 Bravo. If you have an hour to spare give the man some love and appreciate the magic of Violet Evergarden. Salute to all vets out there. Keep fighting!

I saw this video months back and it's worth the watch. Looking forward to the upcoming movie. Too bad most of the developments and the people working on this series fell victim to arson.

definitely worth the watch and I could not help being emotional listening to it indeed! The arson case was really bad and I hate that it happened.

I adored this show. While I think the episode with all the train stuff was a bit unnecessary, the show really was at it's worst highlighting the action because of how goofy it looked seeing a little girl pogoing around in the flashbacks (I think it clashed badly with the tone), it's a fantastic show.

Oh man I watched the movie multiple times and still remains the same melancholy whenever I watch it. Thank you and I really recommend the show and I love how the Vet community had embraced it.
