Hey Steemers, I hope you’re having a nice one despite the dips… I also hope you managed to buy some dips if you’re actively trading, I went for some Ethereum. In this post I would like to show you how to set up your Cryptopay account and Bitcoin Debit card. For security reasons there are some screen shots I could not take but I’ll explain all the steps in detail, so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

The first thing you will want to do is pretty obvious… Head over to https://www.cryptopay.me where you will be met by the following screen:

At the top right of your screen you will see a “sign up” button. Click that button to bring you to the following screen:

Enter the correct details. I suggest using a secure email like https://protonmail.com/, but if you don’t wish to do this I’ll leave it up to you. Proton mail encrypts your email and they have a fantastic free plan. 

If you wish you can read the terms and conditions as well to know exactly what you’re agreeing to. After you’ve completed entering your details you can go ahead and click the “sign up” button.

You will receive an email to the one you chose to use that will complete the sign up process and bring you to your page.

There are two Debit card types you can choose to purchase. The first is a physical card that you can use anywhere a mastercard is accepted, or you can go with a virtual card, solely for online purchases. I decided to go with the physical card because I would like to start buying my groceries in bitcoin.

The way your account will work is you get four Bitcoin addresses. One is for Bitcoin the other three are for Euros, US dollars or GB pounds. Essentially, you send Bitcoin to your Cryptopay Bitcoin address that then stores it there. Whenever you wish to purchase something in the given currency region, you simply send the Bitcoin to the given fiat Bitcoin address. What happens then is that Cryptopay will sell your Bitcoin and give you the equivalent amount due in fiat. 

I like this because it means I can choose the right moment to sell Bitcoin, lets say a day or so before I know I will need to go to the grocery store. 

To order your Debit card, head over to the main page again, where you will see four Tabs at the Top.
Clock on the “Bitcoin Debit card” button.

This will bring you to the following page:

Now you can go ahead and follow the steps as instructed on the page. Hopefully you will have chosen your card type by now so you can go to step 2, 3 and 4 entering your personal info, your shipping address and then checking out. 

I paid with Bitcoin and to do this I first sent Bitcoin to the address I got when I signed up. This is clearly visible as the first of four Bitcoin addresses on your profile page once you have logged yourself in. Just wait for the transaction and then you can choose the Bitcoin address out of a drop down menu at the check out step.

I am really excited to start using my card and get a feel for how simple it really is, but as I opted for free shipping mine will arrive in 2 – 3 weeks. Cryptopay has an amazing support staff that were pro actively guiding me through the set up and some questions I had, which is a bit of a first.
