I'm probably not so bad off over here in the very Far East. Of course, there are no roasted pigeons flying directly into my mouth, and I also have to hustle for a living. But when I look around, I can always see and feel the charm and all the attractions that made me come to this country. And fortunately now and then I have time to look around, here in this country full of people in big cities, but also full of wonderful nature with mighty mountains, many rivers and a never-ending coastline.

Japan as an island nation is not really blessed in terms of resources and minerals, but if there is one thing in abundance here, it is water. Precipitation is abundant all year round, rain and snow provide a very humid climate and also fill the many rivers that come from the mountains and meander towards the sea. Building bridges is quite a promising business here in the land of the rising sun, and for some reason more and more roads are needed in this actually not really huge country.

In our prefecture, two of the country's largest rivers make their way into the Sea of Japan, the Aganogawa and the Shinanogawa, the latter even earning the title of the longest river in Japan. But not only those two rivers, but also the smaller waterways often offer a perfect setting for taking pictures, if you are at the right place at the right time. It seems to me that sometimes I was able to meet this conditions, but hey... who needs perfection in life?

_Wahrscheinlich bin ich doch gar nicht so schlecht dran hier drüben im fernen Osten. Natürlich fliegen mir hier auch nicht die gebratenen Tauben in den Mund, und ich muss auch ordentlich was für meinen Lebensunterhalt machen. Aber wenn ich mich so umschaue, habe ich es hier doch ganz nett getroffen, denn der Reize und Attraktionen gibt es in diesem Land hier nicht wenige. Und ich habe zum Glück auch immer mal wieder Zeit, mich umzusehen, in diesem Land voller Menschen in großen Städten, aber wundervoller Natur mit stattlichen Bergen, vielen Flüßen und einer nicht enden wollenden Küste._

_In Sachen Resourcen und Bodenschätze ist Japan als Inselreich nicht wirklich gesegnet, aber wenn es hier eines im Überfluss gibt, dann ist das Wasser. Niederschläge gibt es das ganze Jahr satt, Regen und Schnee sorgen für ein sehr feuchtes Klima  und bedienen auch die vielen Flüsse, die meist aus den Bergen kommend Richtung meer mäandern. Brückenbau ist hier im Land der aufgehenden Sonne ein ziemlich aussichtsreiches Geschäftsfeld, scheinbat werden immer mehr Straßen in diesem doch nicht wirklich riesigen Land gebraucht._

_Bei uns in der Präfektur zwei der größten Flüsse des Landes ihren Weg ins japanischen Meer, der Aganogawa und der Shinanogawa, letzterer schafft es sogar auf die Top-Position als längster Fluss hier in Japan. Aber nicht nur die beiden Riesen, sondern auch die kleinener Wasserwege bieten oft eine perfektes Foto-setting, wenn man denn zur rechten Zeit am rechten Ort ist. Einige Male scheint mir das so gar gelungen zu sein, aber wer braucht den schon Perfektionismus im Leben?_

The first three photos show the Aganogawa, which is coming from the mountains of Fukushima and has now almost reached the sea. On the last kilometers it is extremely wide and now offers enough space at its banks in case of flooding, which is not so rare, especially in the rainy season.

_Die ersten drei Fotos zeigen den Aganogawa, welcher aus den Bergen Fukushimas kommend jetzt fast am Meer angekommen ist. Auf den letzten Kilometern ist er extrem breit und bietet auch ausreichend Flutungsraum für den fall, dass mal wieder Hochwasser angesagt ist, was besonders in der Regenzeit nicht ganz so selten ist._

Two more pictures of the Aganogawa, this time in the mountains, through which the river snakes its path without taking a break, offering perfect panoramas all the way. There is something for everyone, for nature lovers as well as nostalgics, and people get quickly captivated by the river, which behind every bend presents itself from a different side.

_Noch zwei weitere Bilder vom Aganogawa, diesmal in den Bergen, durch die er sich unermüdlich schlängelt und dabei immer wieder perfekte Panoramen bietet. Naturliebhaber und auch Nostalgiker kommen hier auf ihre Kosten, und jeder wird schnell vom Fluss in seinen Bann gezogen, der sich hinter jeder Kurve immer wieder von einer anderen Seite präsentiert._

But also the tributaries have their charm. For example I really like this small wooden bridge, on which is no chance for any ongoing traffic. The planks wobble to the beat of the car and after getting to the other side I usually smile but also feel kinda glad to have made it safely and without any happenings. A small thrill in everyday life.

_Aber auch die Nebenflüsse haben ihren Reiz und ich mag insbesondere diese kleine Holzbrücke, über die auch wirklich nur ein einziges Auto passt. Die Bohlen wackeln im Takt und man ist dann letzendlich doch immer wieder froh, es heil und unbeschadet ans andere Ufer geschafft zu haben. Ein kleiner Nervenkitzel im alltäglichen Leben._

As mentioned earlier, the smaller rivers often provide a stunning backdrop, especially in the summer when we  can really feel the season. The lush greenery of the surrounding nature makes me  forget that the next city is just around the corner. But if you look out for your own oasis, you will eventually find the most beautiful places in the whole country. You just have to leave the beaten tracks and well-paved roads, and take a different turn than you normally would. And soon you may stand in front of the most magnificent scenery, and get to places that even many locals have not seen. Those who can see and fell, have more of their lives.

_Wie schon erwähnt, bieten die kleineren Flüsse oft eine atemberaubende Kulisse, gerade im Sommer, wenn man die Jahreszeit richtig fühlen kann. Das satte Grün der umgebenden Natur lässt einen vergessen, dass die nächste Stadt gleich wieder um die Ecke liegt. Aber wer sich seine Oase sucht, der auch die schönsten Plätze des Landes findet.Man muss nur die ausgelatschten Wegen und ausgefahrenen Straßen verlassen, und mal eine andere Abbiegung neben als sonst. Und schon kann man vor der herrlichsten Kulisse stehen, und an Orte gelangen, welche die meisten Einheimischen selbst noch nicht gesehen haben. Wer sehen kann, hat halt mehr vom Leben._

Let's have a look at the Shinanogawa River, which at the end of its journey flows directly through Niigata. For the locals this makes for a very pleasant recreational area with lots of space to run around. The river is charming at any time of the year, but especially in the warm days it attracts countless people who come down to the river bank to chill and who appreciate the cool breeze and the great surroundings here.

_Der Eingangs angesprochene Shinanogawa fließt dann zum Ende seiner Laufbahn direkt durch Niigata und bietet den dortigen Einwohner ein ziemlich angenehmes Naherholungsgebiet mit viel Auslauffläche. Zu jeder Jahreszeit hat der Fluss hier seinen Reiz, aber besonders in den warmen Tagen zieht er unzählige Menschen an seine Ufer, die die kühle Brise  und die tolle Umgebung hier zu schätzen wissen._

Even at a later hour or in the middle of the night, Shinagawa provides a powerful setting and invites us to take a walk. After all, it is usually most enjoyable when there are not too many people aroung, and since the temperatures during the summer nights are not much lower than during the days, it is possible to stay there for quite a long time and chill with some cool drinks. While I'm typing this, I am kinda planning this year's summer now. The hotter days are not too far away and I hope I will be able to get down there to hang out with some friends. But first I want just to head over there for a walk or for some cycling. Being outside is always great fun, so I am all in.

_Auch auch zu späterer Stunde oder mitten in der Nacht bietet der Shinagawa eine starke Kulisse und lädt zu einem Spaziergang ein. Wenn man ungestört ist, ist es doch meist am schönsten und da die Sommernächte den Tagen nicht wirklich nachstehen, lässt es sich mit einem kühlen Getränk ziemlich lange aushalten.Während ich das hier tippe, plane ich irgendwie schon den diesjährigen Sommer.  Die heißeren Tage sind nicht mehr allzu weit entfernt und ich hoffe, dass ich es schaffe mit ein paar guten Freunden runter an den Fluss zu kommen und dort ein wenig abzuhängen. Aber erst einmal reicht auch ein Spaziergang oder eine Radtour. Draußen zu sein macht immer viel Spaß, also bin ich voll dabei._

_Ich hoffe meine kleine Bilderauswahl heute hat euch gefallen, mir sind beim Aussuchen und Schreiben wieder ein paar tolle Erlebnisse eingefallen. Zum Glück fängt jeder neue Tag wieder ganz von vorne an, so das auch Morgen noch nicht geschrieben ist. Mal schauen, was uns allen über den Weg und vor die Augen läuft.
