An end to the water search.

On the occasion of the 20th Hive borehole launch in Ghana, it was not just an event; it was a celebration for life and community. As we gathered at Kofi Agyei Senior High Technical School in Bampenase, there were great expectations of mood and thanks filling the air. The smiles on students' faces spoke volumes about what this project means to them; pride in eyes for community leaders reflected mutual benefit, which affects everyone else as well. 



The programme contained one of the most moving moments when the students recited poems they had written themselves. The pictures painted by their words about their daily struggles for water were beautiful and powerful. Their dance performances stood for the successful takeoff from suffering to relief, for water now flows liberally in their community. This borehole is not just a source of water. It is a symbol of dignity and opportunity. 



For the students, it means no longer having to walk long distances before class or miss lessons because they were looking for clean water. The whole village sees in this pump improving its health day by day—improvements that will yield ever brighter prosperity tomorrow. With good water, people live more cleanly, illnesses are fewer, and there is time for both learning and self-development. The water source is one of the most important things in the world.

This year, instead of searching for water, students can finally calm down and concentrate all their energies on studying. Not only teachers, but all who participate in education can give children clean hopes; no more will they be weakened for lack of water and infectious diseases. A new joy has descended on the people. As we watched the students perform on stage, it was clear that what we were celebrating that day was more than just providing water with cleanliness of spirit. 


It is thanks to you, the Hive community, that this was ever realised, and with your tireless support, lives have been changed forever--a ripple effect of positive development on society as we all know by now. A special word too for leaders of the local community, teachers, and groups that carried out this project. They have done a lot in bringing this project to completion. The entire Bampenase community is now united and more optimistic than ever.

This is beautiful and heart touching at the same time. I feel proud to be a Hivian. Water is a necessity, and Hive is leaving a legacy in Ghana with these water projects. This is what empowerment is all about.  The school and the people of the community will forever remember Hive.
