 The Medium videojuego de terror se desarrolla a la vez en dos mundos, aprovecha las bondades del SSD y está confirmado para Xbox Series X y PC. Todo indica aparentemente que el juego no solo se beneficiará del disco para mostrar un alto nivel, sino que también lo hará de la tecnología de sonido.

Los compositores de sonido del videojuego han hablado con IGN Japón con motivo del Tokyo Game Show 2020 y han comentado cómo es trabajar con la nueva tecnología de sonido. Los artistas son Arkadiusz Reikowski y Akira Yamaoka, que participó en el Silent Hill original. Reikowski afirmó que "The Medium es un juego que está fuertemente conectado con Silent Hill" y comentó que él mismo se vio influenciado por Akira Yamaoka cuando comenzó a componer.

"El audio, especialmente el audio espacial, es bastante poderoso en las consolas de próxima generación; los sonidos y la música, lo que los jugadores escucharán, será realmente envolvente", palabras de Reikowski. 

Los compositores centraron su esfuerzo en introducir un tipo de sonido más interactivo, que provocará un ambiente más aterrador tanto así que han tratado de marcar la diferencia, con un tipo de sonido más espeluznante. Reikowski se mostró convencido de que el sonido ayuda a la inmersión del jugador, añadiendo una capa más a la experiencia.
