##### Venezuelan Aboriginal Myth | Mitología Aborigen Venezolana

Every culture has great treasures, mythology and those wonderful stories about the creation of the world are one of them. It intrigues me that they all begin with a mystical tree and full of that juice of infinite knowledge, which is dual, which serves as a bridge between the worlds, between us and the gods. That serves as a quantum mirror, surrealistic, just as we are part of it, at the same time, it is also part of us.

>Cada cultura posee grandes tesoros, la mitología y esas historias maravillosas sobre la creación del mundo son uno de ellos. Me intriga que todas comienzan con un árbol místico y lleno de ese jugo de infinito conocimiento, que es dual, que sirve de puente entre los mundos, entre nosotros y los dioses... Que sirve de espejo cuántico, surrealista, así como somos parte de él, al mismo tiempo, él también es parte de nosotros.

I made this illustration some years ago, with a group of artist friends we decided to get inspired from the wonderful mythologies of the world, fortunately i had to investigate and enter the world of the fantastic and poetic stories of the Venezuelan Indians. I was fascinated by the beauty of the stories about the creation of the world of the Piaroas (Indigenous people who live on the banks of the incredible Orinoco River).

>Hice esta ilustración hace algunos años, con un grupo de amigos artistas decidimos inspirarnos de las maravillosas mitologías del mundo, por fortuna me tocó investigar y adentrarme en el mundo de las historias fantásticas y poéticas de los indígenas Venezolanos. Quedé fascinada por la belleza de las historia sobre la creación del mundo de los Piaroas ( Pueblo Indígena que viven a orillas del increíble Río Orinoco).

##### BUOKA: A creation story | Buoka: Una historia sobre la Creación


They say that everything was dark, there was no sun, no sky, no water, no mountains, man did not exist. Suddenly, from the words, Buoka was born; the visionary next to a mystical tree called Kareru. Buoka quenched his thirst for the juice of knowledge that flowed inside the tree and he had visions, he heard the voices of the sacred spirits of the peccaries, the mountain bear and the armadillo that lived in the belly of the tree, the first tree, the father tree, the grandfather tree. He saw the birth of the father of the waters, the Great Orinoco, the Paria Mountain, the Sipapo River and the upper Cuao, the night, the moon...Buoka in his visions saw his brother Wajari (the creator of the elements) and from his right eye, he created him and from his left eye his sister Tchejeru.

>Cuentan que todo era oscuro, no había sol, ni cielo, ni agua, ni montañas, el hombre no existía. De pronto del palabrerío nació Buoka; el visionario al lado de un místico árbol llamado Kareru. Buoka sació su sed del jugo del conocimiento que fluía dentro del árbol y tuvo visiones, escuchaba las voces de los espíritus sagrados del báquiro, el oso de la montaña y el armadillo que vivián en el vientre del árbol, el primer árbol, el árbol padre, el árbol abuelo. Vió el nacimiento del padre de las aguas, el Gran Orinoco, La montaña Paria, el Río Sipapo y el Alto Cuao, la noche, la luna...Buoka en sus visiones vio a su hermano Wajari (el creador de los elementos) y de su ojo derecho, lo creó y de su ojo izquierdo a su hermana Tchejeru.

I started with a very detailed sketch, for the original traditional drawing I used a 32.5 cm x 48 cm drawing paper, drawing pencils, black crayon and white paint; i had no intention of editing it or adding digital details at that time.

>Comencé por un boceto muy detallado, para el dibujo tradicional original utilicé una cartulina para dibujo de 32.5 cm x 48 cm, lapices de dibujo, crayón negro y pintura blanca; no tenía intenciones de editarlo ni agregarle detalles en digital en aquel momento.

When the activity and the exhibition with my friends ended, i found interesting the final result of this drawing, it had a very special mystery and darkness, so i decided to digitalize it and make it much darker but keeping the traditional strokes and textures using Photoshop.

>Cuando la actividad y la exposición con mis amigos terminó, me pareció interesante el resultado final de este dibujo, tenía un misterio y oscuridad muy especial, así que decidí digitalizarlo y volverlo mucho más oscuro pero conservando los trazos y texturas tradicionales usando Photoshop.

Then on that penetrating darkness that i like so much,i just wanted to add subtle touches of light, a golden effect on the sacred tree, where that source of creation comes from, and accentuate a little more the texture of the skin of the animal spirits that i like so much.

>Luego sobre esa oscuridad penetrante que tanto me gusta, solo quise agregar toques sutiles de luz, un efecto dorado en el árbol sagrado, de donde proviene esa fuente de la creación y acentúe un poco más la textura de la piel de los espíritus animales que tanto me gustan.
