### Hello everyone!

How's your Saturday? Some of you might be having your movie marathon, or going out with friends today. Me? I wish I'm cuddling with my pillows right now while day dreaming about my future travels - and Steemit going to the moon. Haha. But nope, I'm working on a Saturday. =(

Today, I'd like to share to you what I did last weekend. It was our 5th and 6th session in the basic film making workshop. We talked about **scriptwriting** and **directing**.

### SCRIPTWRITING

Our mentor for this session is **Sir Randolph Longjas**, a young filmmaker who graduated cum laude in UP Diliman.

Some of his works are, "*Ang Turkey Man ay Pabo Rin*", "*Buy Now, Die Later*", and "*Star na si Van Damme Stallone*".

For this session, we started by watching **Central Station** first, and that became our movie reference during our discussion.

There was exchanging of insights about the film. He talked about scriptwriting, and all the fascinating beauty of film making.

We had a little activity where in there are 6 story boards, and the 5th board is a man falling from a factory building, and we are to create a story out of it, for only 6 frames.

After giving us few minutes to discuss our story, one representative of each group is tasked to present the output to everyone.

It was really a fun activity. It showed us the creativity and wittiness of the participants.

He shared to us some *"Tips of the Iceberg"*:

**"When everything falls and falls apart, go back to that moment, when you first hungered to be a writer."**

**"Aim to have a bigger heart everyday"**

### DIRECTING

----

For this session, our mentor was Sir **Carlo Fracisco Manatad** also a waray-waray like Sir Randolph Longjas. He graduated in University of the Philippines Film Institute. He is the Editor of the latest movie of Carlo Aquino and Bela Padilla - *"Meet me in St. Gallen"*.

We started by watching the film **"Pamilya Ordinaryo"**. I was late (as usual), the film was already starting when I arrived. The actors were very genuine and natural that I really thought it was a story of two people, a sort of a documentary. It was a very nice film, and I hope you get to watch it.

Our activity for this session is to tell a story of the movie assigned to us using 5-6 shots. After several takes, lots of laughs and awkward moments, here's our output:

From those 5 photos, what do you think is the movie/story assigned to us? 😂

Before we end the day, Sir Carlo showed us different short films on of which is his work. It was a titled "**Junilyn Has**".

It was a story of a life in a day of a prostitute during a Papal visit here in the Philippines. It was beautifully made that you can feel the profoundness of its creator that haunts me until now. I've been wondering what goes through his mind that he can create such films, and convey this kind of feeling to the viewers.

I'm still thinking about "*Junilyn Has*", and probably I'll keep thinking about it until my very last day.
