## **Anonymous artist Banksy joins NFT**
A piece named *I can't believe you morons buy this shit* by anonymous arts from Britain, Banksy has been burned and stored as an NFT. 

The burning was recorded and uploaded to YouTube which you can watch [HERE](https://youtu.be/C4wm-p_VFh0). The piece was loaded onto a NFT and the burning ensures the only place the piece exists is on the network. 

The piece was purchased for $US95,000 and the sale as an NFT saw the value almost tipple securing a $US382,000 paid for in Ethereum. 

The move was focused on drawing light to NFT as Banksy's original piece went up in flames it proved that Block chain tech can be a new medium for artists where art is stored on Block Chain tech.

This isn't the first time a piece from Banksy has been controversial. In 2018 people watched in horror as a bidder who just successfully purchased a Banksy piece watched it shred right before everyone's eyes.

## **Who is Banksy?**

Banksy's work has featured world wide and his political and activist art which focuses on satirical occurances appear predominantly on walls and public places as street art. 

Banksy's identity remains anonymous as graffiti remains illegal in many countries across the globe. Although the identity of the artist remains anonymous to many he was eventually identified by authorities who tracked his movements and art work on a global scale. Yet no action was taken and authorities have not confirmed who Banksy is. 

His work is that valuable that store holders have been known to destroy entire shop walls preserving art work and selling them at auction. 

This latest move to burn and trade Banksy art as an NFT will surely draw eyes on the art sector and create an industry in the NFT space. 

I'm interested to see how this goes and I'm probably going to pull out some paper and paint to give it a whirl. Anyone keen on dropping a few Ethereum for stick figures?

It can be quite intriguing at times, the value of an art piece is set by what exactly? A bit like cryptocurrancy. People say Block chain is fake money, if it is then what is art and what is it's store of value? 

At least cryptocurrancy doesn't break if it gets wet 🤑

Its set by what the mega-rich deem the bragging rights of the piece to be worth. There's a level of wealth where people get bored of of hyper cars and mansions. That's where art, and now NFTs come in.
