Life presents us with incredible people, and the actions of other people will always influence us in some way, that's undeniable. It's a good feeling when we learn something from a good example, having positive parameters to pass on is something beautiful and should be more common. A snowball effect can come from these actions, imagine how much more humane a society we could live in when compassion and love for others become priorities in everyone's lives.

I once met someone who had a huge influence on who I became. I could say that he was a mentor in my life, or even a father figure that I lacked because I didn't have a father. This person has influenced me in many ways, because of the way she sees the world, because she treats people so well that they feel welcomed, and I'm sure there's no one as good as her. That person is a former boss, a guy I met when I was in my early twenties. Of all the things he did for me, one stood out and after that I began to see the world differently.

To tell this story, I need to go back in time. The year was 2011 and I was working in my first job. At the time, I was living an inconsequential life, full of adventures and not wanting many responsibilities. I only worked to support my nightlife of lots of dating and partying. I wasn't a good employee, my manager hated me and rightly so, I was always late, I wasn't productive and I had a difficult personality.

It wasn't long before this manager demanded that I be fired, she didn't want to see me there. One day, I was transferred to another branch and I was a bit confused about what was going on. I went to ask my boss about it and he told me everything I already knew deep down:

*"Felipe, you're a terrible employee. You arrive late, you don't do your job well and your coworkers complain about you a lot, so I'm transferring you to this other branch so that you can start again, change the way you work and be better."*

I was struck by his sincerity and asked why he didn't just send me away and hire someone else to replace me, he simply replied "**because you can be better**". That unlocked something inside me in a way I can't explain. After that conversation, I was never the same person again and I really changed. That guy didn't owe me anything and believed in me, even after all the mistakes I'd made, maybe he saw something that many other people didn't? All I know is that after a few years, I was the best employee he'd ever had in the history of the entire company in the sector where I worked.

Many years have passed and that experience is still embedded in me. I've learned my lesson and I believe in people, I have faith that anyone can be better than they are, regardless of the mistakes they make. It wasn't just one occasion when I passed this philosophy on, but many. For me, that act by my ex-boss was the first link in a chain that I cultivate and try to make grow; my actions can influence other people to believe in the potential of their fellow human beings, just as I was influenced to be a better employee. But the point is that it didn't just change my profile as an employee, it elevated me to another personal level, with thoughts of evolution and improvement.

And that's what I do with people who come into my life, I give them a second chance and show them that they are better, that they can change their lives. There is no greater impact when someone tells you that you are capable, that you can be better. This is a chain that can be increased and has great potential. Imagine how many people have had their way of seeing the world changed for the better after that conversation I had with my boss? That's a lesson that will last for a long time and for many people!

A vida nos presenteia com pessoas incríveis, e as ações de outras pessoas sempre nos influenciarão de alguma maneira, isso é inegável. É uma sensação boa quando aprendemos algo por um bom exemplo, ter parâmetros positivos para passar adiante é algo lindo e deveria ser mais comum. Um efeito "bola de neve" pode vir dessas ações, imagine o quanto poderíamos viver em uma sociedade mais humana quando a compaixão e o amor ao próximo se tornarem prioridades na vida de todos.

Certa vez, conheci uma pessoa que influenciou muito no que me tornei. Posso dizer que foi um mentor na minha vida ou até mesmo uma figura paterna da qual fui carente por não ter pai. Essa pessoa me influenciou de várias maneiras, pelo seu jeito de ver o mundo, por tratar as pessoas tão bem que se sentem acolhidas, e eu tenho certeza de que não existe alguém tão boa quanto ela. Essa pessoa é um ex-chefe, um cara que conheci quando ainda tinha uns vinte e poucos anos. Dentre tantas coisas que ele já fez por mim, uma se destacou e depois disso comecei a ver o mundo de outra forma.

Para contar essa história, eu preciso voltar no tempo, o ano era 2011 e eu estava trabalhando no meu primeiro emprego. Naquela época, eu vivia uma vida inconsequente, cheia de aventuras e não queria muitas responsabilidades. Eu trabalhava apenas para sustentar a minha vida noturna de muitos namoros e festas. Eu não era um bom funcionário, minha gerente me odiava e com razão, eu vivia chegando atrasado, não era produtivo e tinha uma personalidade difícil.

Não demorou muito para que essa gerente exigisse que eu fosse demitido, ela não queria me ver ali. Um belo dia, fui transferido de filial e fiquei um pouco confuso sobre o que estava acontecendo. Fui perguntar ao meu chefe sobre aquilo e ele me disse tudo o que no fundo eu já sabia:

*"Felipe, você é um péssimo funcionário. Chega atrasado, não faz bem o seu serviço e os seus colegas de trabalho reclamam muito de você e então estou te transferindo para essa outra filial para que você recomece, mude sua forma de trabalhar e seja melhor."*

Eu fiquei impactado com a sua sinceridade e perguntei por que ele simplesmente não me mandou embora e contratou outra pessoa para me substituir, ele simplesmente me respondeu "**porque você consegue ser melhor**". Aquilo desbloqueou algo dentro de mim de uma forma que não sei explicar, depois dessa conversa, eu nunca mais fui a mesma pessoa e realmente mudei. Aquele cara não me devia nada e acreditou em mim, mesmo depois de tantos erros que cometi, talvez ele tenha enxergado algo que muitas outras pessoas não enxergaram? Só sei que depois de alguns anos, eu fui o melhor funcionário que ele teve na história de toda a empresa naquele setor que eu trabalhava.

Muitos anos se passaram e essa experiência ainda está cravada em mim. Eu aprendi a lição e acredito nas pessoas, eu coloco fé que qualquer um pode ser melhor do que é, independente dos erros que cometem. Não foi apenas uma ocasião em que passei essa filosofia adiante, mas sim em muitas. Para mim, aquele ato do meu ex-chefe foi o primeiro elo de uma corrente da qual cultivo e tento fazer aumentar, minhas ações podem influenciar outras pessoas a acreditarem no potencial dos seus semelhantes assim como fui influenciado a ser um funcionário melhor. Mas a questão é que aquilo não mudou apenas o meu perfil de funcionário, mas me elevou a um outro patamar pessoal, com pensamentos de evolução e melhorias.

E é isso que faço com pessoas que passam pela minha vida, dou-lhes uma segunda chance e as mostro que elas são melhores, que podem mudar sua vida. Não existe algo que cause mais impacto quando alguém diz que você é capaz, que pode ser melhor. Essa é uma corrente que pode ser aumentada e tem um potencial muito grande. Imagine quantas pessoas já não tiveram sua forma de enxergar um mundo mudado para melhor após aquela conversa que tive com meu chefe? Essa é uma lição, que perdure por muito tempo e por muitas pessoas!
