Of course, regulations and points of support are essential to guarantee the effective preservation of children's well-being. However, we know that total monitoring is difficult, and in some cases, especially in remote areas, children still suffer. This is often due to a lack of guidance in some families. In contexts in poorer regions, situations like this are even common.

However, there is the other side, where Children's Services can extrapolate and give the idea of overprotection, which ends up influencing the way of life in some communities. Measures need to be taken in extreme situations, of course. If a home doesn't offer the necessary support to a child, action must be taken. Often, this means removing the child from the home due to mistreatment and exploitation. This is a necessary measure, but at the same time sad, because the home, where there should be emotional and affective support, becomes a place of suffering. However, in some cases, the services act on the basis of limited information or in an excessively cautious manner, which can result in mistakes and cause a family breakdown, with emotional consequences that the child will carry for life.

For extreme situations, extreme measures are necessary. Removing a child from their home doesn't seem like the best solution, but it is often essential to ensure that they have a more welcoming and safe environment. There is also a need for family rehabilitation work, seeking to understand the situation and offer support through therapy or guidance to improve the parents' conditions.

In general, this kind of support is fundamental to protecting children. We know that they are often the most affected when they lack emotional, financial and educational support at home, and the consequences of these absences are carried throughout their lives through trauma. Initiatives like these are beneficial, preventative and generate good results. Although, in some situations, mistakes can occur due to limited information, it is a necessary measure, with its positive points, but also with flaws. Still, it's important to have this kind of support.

They are our greatest treasures, they are the future, and they cannot be exploited, hurt or mistreated. They need love, affection and, when necessary, protection, even through child protection initiatives.
