Today, the world revolves around the internet, that is undeniable, and digital skills are in high demand in the job market. Those with skills in design, programming, marketing, and other areas are always busy, as there is a high demand for these professionals. Even those who have mastered only one or two digital skills can still earn some income as freelancers. But then a question arises: if the internet ceased to exist, what would happen to people who only know how to work in front of a screen?

Certainly, the world would have to undergo a major change. It wouldn't just be professionals who would have to adapt. Today, when you don't know something, do you pick up a book or go to YouTube? One thing I've been thinking about these days is how we are losing some basic skills because of technology. Currently, we have several alternatives for learning something on the internet, but if it ceased to exist, how would we know what to do?

Speaking for myself, I have always been curious since I was a child, and I can say that I am not an expert in anything specific, but I know how to do a little bit of everything. This curiosity has always kept me attentive to accumulating skills. If something needs to be fixed at home, I do it; if something needs to be built, I know how; and even in less useful activities, such as crafts, I have a certain skill. I've always had more affinity for manual work than digital work, and that's where I find true pleasure. I believe we have too much time in life to limit ourselves to just one type of activity. There are so many possibilities, and we have the gift of learning easily. It would be a waste to set aside this human aptitude.

I've been in several situations where these skills have brought me extra income. A few weeks ago, my former boss sent me a message asking if I could assemble some shelves for her  and, of course, I accepted. This earned me good money for an activity that only took up my Saturday morning. If I didn't know how to do this, I would have missed out on the opportunity to earn money. And this wasn't the first time this kind of thing has happened. I believe that people with this kind of knowledge are becoming increasingly scarce, and therefore, those who know how to do it are charging more and more. With everyone migrating their learning to the digital world in search of great opportunities, manual labor is being left behind by most people.

As I said, doing things with my hands is what I like best. I could list a multitude of things I know how to do here. And if I had to choose something to improve on in the future, it would probably be cooking. Not that I have any intention of becoming a professional chef and working in that field, but because I really enjoy cooking. This is a skill I acquired as a child, thanks to my mother.

I believe there are many opportunities in the digital world, and it's great to take advantage of them, I always do. But we can't lose basic skills like building, fixing things, or even planting and raising animals. If one day we depend so much on technology that it simply disappears, the likelihood of us returning to the cave age is very high. And, for sure, those who know how to do things with their own hands will do well. As for those who don't know... well, there won't be YouTube to teach them...

Hoje, o mundo gira em torno da internet, isso é inegável e as habilidades digitais estão em alta no mercado de trabalho. Quem possui conhecimentos como design, programação, marketing, entre outros, está sempre ocupado, pois existe uma grande demanda por esses profissionais. Mesmo aqueles que dominam apenas uma ou outra habilidade digital ainda conseguem alguma renda como freelancers. Mas então surge uma questão: se a internet deixasse de existir, o que seria das pessoas que sabem apenas trabalhar em frente a uma tela?

Com certeza, o mundo precisaria passar por uma mudança muito grande. Não seriam apenas os profissionais que teriam de se adequar. Hoje, quando você não sabe algo, você pega um livro ou acessa o YouTube? Uma coisa em que estive refletindo esses dias é como estamos perdendo algumas habilidades primárias por conta da tecnologia. Atualmente, temos diversas alternativas para aprender algo pela internet mas se ela deixasse de existir, como saberíamos o que fazer?

Falando por mim, sempre fui curioso desde pequeno, e posso afirmar que não sou especialista em algo específico, mas sei fazer um pouco de tudo. Essa curiosidade sempre me manteve atento a acumular habilidades. Se for preciso consertar algo em casa, eu faço; se for necessário construir, eu sei, e até mesmo em atividades menos úteis, como artesanato, tenho uma certa habilidade. Sempre tive mais afinidade com trabalhos manuais do que com o digital e é nisso que encontro verdadeiro prazer. Acredito que temos tempo demais na vida para nos limitarmos a apenas um tipo de atividade. São tantas as possibilidades, e temos o dom de aprender com facilidade. Seria um desperdício deixar de lado essa aptidão humana.

Já passei por diversas situações em que essas habilidades me trouxeram renda extra. Algumas semanas atrás, minha antiga chefe me mandou uma mensagem perguntando se eu poderia montar algumas prateleiras para ela  e, é claro, aceitei. Isso me rendeu um bom dinheiro com uma atividade que ocupou apenas a manhã do meu sábado. Se eu não soubesse fazer isso, teria perdido a oportunidade de ganhar. E essa não foi a primeira vez esse tipo de coisa acontece com frequência. Acredito que pessoas com esse tipo de conhecimento estão cada vez mais escassas, e, por isso, os que sabem fazer cobram cada vez mais caro. Com todo mundo migrando seus aprendizados para o mundo digital, em busca de grandes oportunidades, os trabalhos manuais estão sendo deixados de lado por grande parte das pessoas.

Como disse, fazer coisas com as mãos é o que mais gosto. Eu poderia listar aqui uma infinidade de coisas que sei fazer. E, se tivesse que escolher algo para me aperfeiçoar no futuro, talvez seria gastronomia. Não que eu tenha a pretensão de me tornar um chef profissional e trabalhar com isso mas porque realmente gosto de cozinhar. Essa foi uma habilidade que adquiri desde criança, graças à minha mãe.

Acredito que existem muitas oportunidades no meio digital, e é ótimo aproveitá-las  eu mesmo sempre faço isso. Mas não podemos perder habilidades básicas como construir, consertar coisas, ou até mesmo plantar e criar animais. Se um dia dependermos tanto da tecnologia a ponto de ela simplesmente desaparecer, a probabilidade de voltarmos à época das cavernas é muito grande. E, com certeza, quem sabe fazer coisas com as próprias mãos vai se sair bem. Já os que não sabem… bem, não vai ter YouTube para ensinar...
