If you've read some of my previous posts on Steemit, you may already know that we have purchased a retirement home in Mexico that we are gradually making improvements upon.  One of the latest projects comes from my enjoyment of cooking, particularly on a grill with friends around.

The post [Mexican Garden with Mosquito Control](https://steemit.com/architecturalphotography/@mikehamm/mexican-garden-with-mosquito-control) displayed some of the back yard garden area.  One area in particular was the mosquito control pond.  It became increasingly difficult to maintain water in the pond so we decided to make this corner of the garden a grill area.  As you can see the grill quickly grew in proportion.

Since we often have friends around when grilling a little bar area was added to the grill.  Since the sand shifts around with the wind a firm floor of stone was added.  My post [Lying Under the Coconut Tree](https://steemit.com/naturephotography/@mikehamm/lying-under-the-coconut-tree) pointed out the dangers of being underneath a coconut tree.  It was quickly pointed out that a falling coconut or limb would not only put people at risk but also destroy the cement grill/bar area, so a roof of bamboo was added.

Although the work is not completely finished, we have already started to enjoy it.  The swing ropes have now all been stretched and final adjustments can be made to the height of the swings and there needs to be some painting done along the walls.

The grill added is an Argentinean grill with a rack that can be raised and lowered to adjust the heat.  As you can see the grill has been broken in with some German sausages made by an expat of German descent locally.  It worked great, the structure of the bar around the grill kept the winds from fire so the grill stayed nice and hot without causing a fire hazard with sparks flying everywhere.  It's going to be a great addition to the house that hopefully we will enjoy for many years.
