## Eyes on the Covid vaccine.
</center>

<div class="text-justify">

**Are we sure that it is the right solution to return to NORMAL?**

**But can we really go back to NORMAL by living like before Covid?**

We are all tired of wearing masks and paying attention to contacts with other people, we would like to return to live a more normal life, the one we used to enjoy before the outbreak of the pandemic.

Of course, we await the **easy and immediate solution**. We rely on SCIENCE.
But in the meantime that we are waiting for the _magic tablet_ to not get infected with the virus, why don't we begin to ask ourselves:
#### why COVID-19 broke out and above all why in this historical moment?

In fact, the answer has been around for some time. The science we trust today to find a vaccine has long warned us of the danger we are running due to the conditions in which our Planet pours.
**But we care less about these scientific claims**.
As well as governments around the world.
We know very well that we are indiscriminately exploiting the environment by destroying the balance of ecosystems.
But we do not in any way change our way of impacting the Planet.

The **BAD NEWS** is that there is a very close **connection between the spread of pandemics and our way of life**.

I know nobody goes to read boring research written in a technical way, but at least take a look at my short list of scientific research, I assure you just a very short summary lines are written.
Just to understand that science is telling us that we must find a more sustainable way of development if we are to counter the spread of new viruses.

Researchers from **the University of Edinburgh Center for Tropycal Veterinary Medicine** carried out a study to identify risk factors for the onset of diseases communicable to humans.
Then analyzing **1415 species of infectious organisms** known to be pathogenic to humans, they showed that **61% of these are zoonotic**, that is, they can be transmitted between man and animal.
Read <a href="https://europepmc.org/backend/ptpmcrender.fcgi?accid=PMC1088493&blobtype=pdf"> HERE </a> the pdf document.

Another study that links the phenomenon of the spread of infectious diseases to the action of man on nature, is that conducted by an international team of scientists from the **Department of Biology and Biotechnology Charles Darwin of the Sapienza University of Rome** and the **Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research organization (CSIRO)**.
According to the scientists, it is necessary to recognize that there are compromises between socio-economic development objectives, such as the production of food and energy, and their impact on the environment and biodiversity which involve risks related to the onset of pandemics.

According to scientist **Bernstein**, interim director of the **Center for climate, health and the global environment of T.H. Chan School of public health (Harvard C-CHANGE) of Harvard University**, the loss of habitat contributes significantly to the emergence of pathogens as it forces the various living species to look for new places to live by coming into contact with others different species and this triggers a mechanism of diffusion and exchange of infectious pathogens.

I believe that Coronavirus has highlighted some **NEGATIVE** aspects of the societies in which we live.
For example, the greatest spread of the pandemic occurred in densely populated, industrialized and highly polluted areas of countries, such as Wuhan in China, the Padan Plain in Italy and South Korea.
**I wonder if air pollution, mainly caused by fossil fuels, does not make people more vulnerable and predisposed to get sick?**
On the other hand, many <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6394122/"> STUDIES </a> confirm that particulate air pollution increases the risk of getting sick from bacterial and viral pathogens that cause pneumonia.

<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/apr/08/human-impact-on-wildlife-to-blame-for-spread-of-viruses-says-study-aoe"> Image Source</a>

**Another question I ask myself**, since we now know that the contact of different species can cause a jump of species of viruses making them lethal for us human beings, **why don't we ban Wet Markets scattered around the world**?
Do not I say so but it is scientifically proven that unsustainable levels of hunting and trafficking in wild animals increase the risk of spillover. <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/apr/08/human-impact-on-wildlife-to-blame-for-spread-of-viruses-says-study-aoe">HERE </a> is an interesting article.

Continuing to live as we have done up to now means experiencing continuous pandemics and having to live in restrictive conditions with l**ockdown periods** in places where virus outbreaks occur and keep **social distances** to avoid any contagion.
Is this really how we want to live in the coming years, in addition to the economic damage that ensues?

### Ebola, Sars, Zika, MERS, H1N1,
are just some of the pandemics which have spread in recent years to countries all over the world, and today we have to live with
###  Covid-19.

**What is common to all these pandemics?**
Only 1: they are of **ZOONOTIC ORIGIN**, that is, they are transmitted by animals.

No we should not expect to return to **NORMAL**, we need to create a new one, more sustainable and equitable.
##### IT WILL NOT BE A VACCINE THAT WILL SAVE US, BUT THE COMMITMENT TO PLAN A SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL FUTURE THAT FOCUSES ON :
