There is always so much to be done in the garden and sometimes it can feel overwhelming if you think too much about the scope of what needs to be done. So it was lovely to read this little blog entry from seasoned gardener @goldenoakfarm where she outlines [just taking each job at a time](https://hive.blog/homesteading/@goldenoakfarm/seedlings-flowers-and-doings-may-22-2022-goldenoakfarm) and observing what nature gets on with as different flowers begin to bloom with the warming weather. I also recommend reading how she makes her mentioned [soil amendment,](https://hive.blog/homesteading/@goldenoakfarm/making-amendment-may-20-2022-goldenoakfarm) which she did earlier in the week. 

Lots has been happening at the @ligayagardener's place to, as he [prepares it for winter in the south.](https://hive.blog/hive-140635/@ligayagardener/ligaya-garden-journal-may-2022) I enjoy how he talks about his garden with its living eco system and bringing attention to the environment and even culture that surrounds it and us. I feel like I'm now beginning to think like a garden. 

@apanamamama gave me some food for thought as she discussed [why they decided to get rid of their goats from the homestead.](https://hive.blog/hive-114308/@apanamamama/why-we-got-rid-of) My curiosity was drawn in because I mostly only see articles extolling their virtues, but circumstances are different for everyone as are experiences. It's always good to see another side to things before making decisions on adding animals.

Having moved to Nova Scotia, @juliakponsford has been able to really start on her gardening journey. It was lovely to [tour through the garden](https://hive.blog/hive-110515/@juliakponsford/stacking-wood-gardening-foraging-and-nature-stuff) in discovery mode as she learns about new things with growing, foraging and finding the existence of new edibles.

Thanks for including my post about our goats! I really did enjoy them, but the time put into them just wasn't worth it for me! Maybe if one of the kids gets interested in the future, we could consider getting some again. The sheep are pretty easy to handle, so we may keep them for a bit! I appreciate the mention!

I hear you. I've had to make similar decisions myself, so I usually try to weigh things up better before committing to something else now. It doesn't always work, though. 😅 With you already having a cow for milk too, then there isn't even the rain to keep for milk either.

True - I tried milking the goat and got maybe a cup (although the babies were still nursing often). We decided the gallon and a half we get from the cow much better suits our needs...
And then tonight the sheep gave birth to twins! The fun never stops around here!
