your position for a vote is determined by how many votes has been produced on your behalf, if you post every so often you should be able to get what you can get from it. when youre behind, you will get more votes, when youre overpaid, it will spread to other users a bit first, when youre behind, you will get more votes, when youre overpaid, it will spread to other users a bit first so all you have to do to catch up with votes is keep posting.
