## Reto NaturalMedicine Mes de Noviembre: Frase Dalai Lama
### Tú Puedes Hacer la Diferencia

Este mes de noviembre @naturalmedicine nos trae 3 desafíos muy interesantes para desarrollar, en uno de ellos nos invita a tomar una cita como base para la reflexión y escribir un post en torno a ella. En esta oportunidad, quise hacer mi reflexión en base a una cita del Dalai Lama que me encanta:

Es una frase que resulta hasta graciosa y contiene para mí una gran verdad. La primera vez que la leí no pude evitar traer a mi pantalla mental esa imagen del mosquito, incluso me lo imaginé en la noche molestando en la habitación, revoloteando sobre mi cabeza una y otra vez, ¿puedes imaginarlo así? Sin dudas puede ser una gran molestia y hacerte pasar muy mal rato, a menos que tengas la dicha de dormir como un oso.

Esta frase me gusta mucho porque de una forma simple el Dalai Lama afirma que no importa del tamaño que seas, puedes hacer una diferencia en cualquier cosa. Y aquí claramente la palabra “tamaño” tiene una connotación que trasciende la estatura física.

No importa que creas que esa idea sea muy chiquita, o que no tengas el apoyo que necesitarías o tal vez el dinero, o tantas otras cosas que te puedan hacer ver en una posición disminuida o que usas como excusa para auto-sabotearte, puedes hacer la diferencia si te lo propones.

Para ejemplificar esto más allá de las palabras me gustaría traer el caso de Greta Thunberg, cuando decidió apostarse a las puertas del Parlamento de Estocolmo para protestar por los cambios climáticos tenía solo 16 años, cada viernes faltaba al colegio y se sentaba allí con una pancarta, y en muy poco tiempo sin esperarlo, más de un millón de personas, entre ellos, muchos niños y adolescentes, en diferentes países se han unido a esta huelga escolar que aclama a los Estados por el cuidado ambiental para evitar una catástrofe global.

Otro ejemplo digno de resaltar es el de Boyan Slat, un chico que a sus 16 años tuvo también esa preocupación por la contaminación ambiental e ideó un proyecto para limpiar los mares de tanto desperdicio, actualmente dirige una fundación sin ánimo de lucro llamada The Ocean CleanUp, que está haciendo proyectos increíbles por el medio ambiente.

En otra área de lucha distinta al del medio ambiente,  Malala Yousafzai chica Pakistaní, se atrevió a desafiar al régimen y reclamar el derecho de las “niñas” a tener acceso a la educación, tal osadía fue reprendida con un intento de asesinato que sufrió tras ser víctima de un disparo en la cabeza cuando iba en un autobús escolar. Afortunadamente eso no la detuvo en su propósito y ha seguido luchando por la paz y el derecho a la educación de los niños, lo que la hizo merecedora del Premio Nobel de la Paz que recibió a sus 17 años.

Ciertamente estos ejemplos pudieran hacernos creer que se tratan de personas “excepcionales”, pero la verdad es que hay muchísimas personas en el mundo “haciendo la diferencia” en diferentes áreas, abundan científicos, ecologistas, maestros del arte y la cocina, de la meditación, escritores y tantos otros de todas las edades, escogí estos ejemplos para representar esa pequeñez de “tamaño” que dice la frase a la que estoy haciendo referencia.

Y más allá de compararnos con alguno de estos ejemplos, el gran punto está en hacer esa revisión interna y reflexionar si estamos haciendo la diferencia, y esto no tiene que ver con que seamos nominados a un Premio Nobel de la Paz, hacemos la diferencia empezando desde casa, **¿Qué clase de padre eres?** **¿el que deja a sus hijos a su suerte o el que se involucra en su crecimiento?** **¿Qué tipo de hijo eres?** **¿Hermano?** **¿Ciudadano?** **¿Vecino?**

**¿Lo ves?**, puedes sembrar el cambio desde tu entorno más cercano, puedes hacer la diferencia tan solo diciendo “Buenos días”, siendo empático, cultivando buenas acciones, ayudando al otro, aportando tus conocimientos de cualquier forma para beneficiar a otros, riendo, abrazando, sembrando, cuidando el medio ambiente… PUEDES HACER LA DIFERENCIA, CREELO!!

Créelo y decídete a seguir ese impulso que te mueve cada día a ser una mejor versión de ti, no te quedes esperando, toma acción y aporta. Mi mamá me repetía mucho una frase que marcó una ruta a seguir para mí cada vez que voy a tomar una decisión sobre qué hacer, ella dice 

>> ###### “Si no vas a sumar, no seas de los que restan, busca siempre la forma de ser parte de los que aportan una solución”.

Cada vez que creas que no puedas, que sientas que no eres suficientemente grande para hacer una diferencia, recuerda el MOSQUITO y esta maravillosa frase del Dalai Lama:

>> ##### "Si crees que eres demasiado pequeño para hacer la diferencia, intenta dormir con un mosquito".

This time, I wanted to reflect on a quote from the Dalai Lama that I love:

It's a phrase that is even funny and contains a great truth for me. The first time I read it I couldn't help but bring to my mental screen that image of the mosquito, I even imagined it at night disturbing the room, flitting over my head again and again, can you imagine it like that? No doubt it can be a great nuisance and give you a very bad time, unless you have the joy of sleeping like a bear.

I like this phrase a lot because in a simple way the Dalai Lama states that no matter how small you are, you can make a difference in anything. And here clearly the word "small" has a connotation that transcends physical stature.

It doesn't matter that you think that idea is too small, or that you don't have the support that you would need or maybe the money, or so many other things that can make you look in a diminished position or that you use as an excuse for self-sabotage, you can make a difference if you put your mind to it.

To exemplify this beyond words, I would like to bring up the case of Greta Thunberg, when she decided to stand at the gates of the Stockholm Parliament to protest against climate change, she was only 16 years old, every Friday she skipped school and sat there with a banner, and in a very short time without waiting, more than a million people, including many children and adolescents, in different countries, have joined this school strike that acclaims the states for environmental care to avoid a global catastrophe.

Another example worthy of note is Boyan Slat, a boy who at age 16 also had this concern for environmental pollution and devised a project to clean the seas of so much waste, currently runs a non-profit foundation called The Ocean CleanUp, which is doing incredible projects for the environment.

In another area of struggle different from that of the environment, Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl, dared to challenge the regime and claim the right of "girls" to have access to education, such daring was reprimanded with an assassination attempt that she suffered after being shot in the head while riding a school bus. Fortunately, this did not stop her from her purpose and she has continued to fight for peace and the right to education for children, which made her worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize she received at age 17.

Certainly these examples could make us believe that they are "exceptional" people, but the truth is that there are many people in the world "making a difference" in different areas, scientists, ecologists, masters of art and cooking, meditation, writers and many others of all ages abound, I chose these examples to represent that small "size" that says the sentence I am referring to.

And beyond comparing us to some of these examples, the big point is to do that internal review and reflect if we are making a difference, and this has nothing to do with us being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, we are making a difference starting from home, **What kind of father are you?** **The one who leaves his children to their own devices or the one who gets involved in their growth?**, **What kind of son are you?** **Brother?** **Citizen?** **Neighbor?**

**See, you?** can sow change from your closest environment, you can make a difference just by saying "Good morning", being empathetic, cultivating good deeds, helping others, contributing your knowledge in any way to benefit others, laughing, hugging, sowing, caring for the environment... YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, BELIEVE IT!

Believe it and decide to follow that impulse that moves you every day to be a better version of yourself, don't wait, take action and contribute. My mom used to repeat a phrase to me a lot that marked a route to follow for me, every time I was going to make a decision about what to do, she says 

>> ###### "If you are not going to add, don't be one of those who subtract, always look for a way to be part of those who provide a solution".

Every time you think you can't or feel you're not big enough to make a difference, remember the MOSQUITO and this wonderful phrase from the Dalai Lama:

>> ##### "If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito".
