## How long does account creation take?

Hey all, I'm trying to help someone set up a steemit account and got through the registration process including entering the confirmation code from their phone to the website on 2/12/2018 and they have yet to get a confirmation email. I understand that sometimes this takes a while but 10 days seems rather excessive. After about a week I emailed the contact@steemit.com address but I did not hear back from anyone. Does anybody know if there is a way to check the status of an account that was requested? 

Also, is there any reason why registration takes this long? I worry that steemit will have a hard time getting adopted on a larger scale if it takes this long just to get an account. Is it a platform issue or simply a traffic vs available support issue. I'd be curious to hear how long others have waited on accounts that were created recently to see if this is a universal problem or if something else is going on here.
