<strong>ESPAÑOL</strong><p></p> <center><h2>PAZ</h2></center><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Soy lo que llaman un solterón empedernido, porque aunque ando cerca de necesitar un bastón, aún no hay una mujer que comparta mi vida, porque las que han pasado, han hecho eso: pasar. En ocasiones evoco a una u otra, pero hay unas cuantas que ni recuerdo.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Pero si hay una mujer en mi vida, además de mi madre. Ella es Paz, mi ahijada. <strong><em>¿Cómo se hizo con una ahijada, un solterón como yo?</em></strong></div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Pues muy fácil en realidad, simplemente una de esas jugarretas que le hace a uno la vida. Les contaré la historia. <div class="text-justify">Cuando mi mejor amigo se casó, su inteligente mujer permitió que nuestra amistad siguiese sin obstaculizarla para nada, por el contrario fui un invitado constante a sus pequeñas e íntimas reuniones.</div><p></p>

<div class="text-justify"> En una reunión, en la que fui único invitado, me anunciaron su decisión de convertirse en padres, pues sintieron que su madurez como pareja no estaría completa sin un retoño que llevase sus genes.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Aún cuando yo temí que con la nueva situación me fuesen alejando de sus vidas, la amistad se fortaleció, hasta el punto que acompañé a Pablo en su espera en el hospital y fui el primero, después de sus padres, a quien le pusieron la bebé en brazos.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Nunca había tenido un niño en brazos, pero todavía hoy recuerdo la extraña emoción que me embargó al sostener el cuerpecito tibio sobre mi pecho. Y aunque dicen que los bebés no sonríen, juro que la vi sonreír. En ese momento sentí un vínculo muy especial con la niña que me marcó para siempre. Verla sonreír o jugar o simplemente tomarla de la mano me llenaba de paz, de tranquilidad; me llevaba de la agitación al sosiego.</div><p></p>

<div class="text-justify">Nunca pensé que la tragedia tocara la vida de mis queridos amigos, pero sí lo hizo y muy duramente. Paz quedó huérfana a los nueve años. Un accidente automovilístico se llevó a sus padres. Ella estaba a mi cuidado ese día, como algunos otros días, pero debí pedir apoyo a mi madre para darle la noticia. No tenía palabras.</div><p></p>

<div class="text-justify">Mi madre también era muy especial para brindar alivio en las grandes preocupaciones. Apenas había compartido con Paz, pero al verla y abrazarla me dijo que su aura era muy brillante y que sabría manejar la situación. Desaprobó mi idea de ocultarle la terrible noticia.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Al mirar los ojos profundos de la niña, me sentí más tranquilo y sin rodeos le informé el fatal accidente de sus padres, conteniendo mi dolor para no exacerbar el suyo. Sus ojos se volvieron inescrutables, me abrazó con cierta brusquedad y lloró en mi hombro. Mi madre se unió a nosotros en el abrazo.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">A partir de aquel día, Paz comenzó a practicar meditación, asesorada por mi madre. Ambas congeniaron muy bien. Mi madre aseguraba que hablar con Paz era un remanso de paz. Yo siempre he sentido lo mismo.</div><p></p>

Realmente, Paz manejó muy bien la pérdida de sus padres. En verdad, lo ha hecho mejor que yo.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Pensé que la dolorosa pérdida podría afectar su vida amorosa. Además mi ejemplo de hombre solitario no es el mejor, pero ¡qué va! a sus veinticuatro añitos, Paz está pensando en su matrimonio, con un novio que he tenido que aprobar porque está tan enamorado que se le nota desde la distancia.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">Me consuela saber, que Paz vivirá el amor como lo hicieron sus padres, ¡en plenitud!. Espero que su vida sea mucho más larga.</div><p></p>

Seeing her smile or play or simply hold her hand filled me with peace, with tranquility; she took me from agitation to calm.</div> <p> </p>

<div class="text-justify">I never thought tragedy would touch the lives of my dear friends, but it did, and very hard. Paz was orphaned at the age of nine. A car accident took her parents. She was in my care that day, like some other days, but I had to ask my mother for support to break the news about her. She was speechless.</div> <p> </p>

<div class="text-justify">My mother was also very special in providing relief in big worries. She had barely shared with Paz, but seeing her and hugging her, she told me that her aura was very bright and that she would know how to handle the situation. She disapproved of my idea ofhiding the terrible news from her.</div> <p> </p> <div class="text-justify"> Looking into the girl's deep eyes, I felt calmer and bluntly informed her of her parents' fatal accident, containing my pain so as not to exacerbate hers. Her eyes became inscrutable, she hugged me rather roughly and cried on my shoulder. My mother joined us in the hug.</div><p></p> <div class="text-justify">From that day on, Paz began to practice meditation, advised by my mother. Both hit it off very well. My mother claimed that talking to Paz was a haven of peace. I've always felt the same.</div><p></p>

Paz really handled the loss of her parents very well. In truth, she has done better than me. </div> <p> </p> <div class="text-justify"> I thought the painful loss might affect her love life. Besides, my example of a lonely man is not the best, but what's up! At twenty-four years old, Paz is thinking about her marriage, with a boyfriend I had to approve of because he's so in love that you can tell from a distance.</div><p></p> <div class="text- justify">It comforts me to know that Paz will live love as her parents did, fully! I hope her life will be much longer.</div> <p> </p>
