I remember when the concept of forgetting something at your house didn’t seem like saying goodbye because of course I would be back within the week.

When the untangling of stuff seemed easier than the untangling of self
Which seemed impossible 
And far away

But I was wrong, 
my heart and body unraveled quickly 
with unkind words, 
onto the floor,
not left undamaged;
untangled.

On the other hand, 
your stuff is still here,
mixed up and into 
my things that I’ve loved 
before I loved you 
and my things that I’ve loved 
after I loved you.

Stuff is harder to untangle.
