**Pastor time Steemians!**

Today with a maybe explosive topic as you saw in the title. In this post, I want to handle the real problem steemians might have with the trending section. Honestly, after reading more contributions about that and also the comments from Steemians I believe there could be much deeper problems as people admit.

The first time I wrote about that topic with a different focus in the following contribution. There I presented also a solution for a maybe better trending page.

Let me give you a disclaimer up front: *I am not taking a side; I am not presenting the true reasons. The purpose of this post is to lead you to think on a deeper level. To ask questions, not to present the solutions. Also,​ I believe that this post could be valuable​ for many people because of that this post will be boosted after 30 minutes! ,​Ok Let's dive in.*

When people are facing a problem, a problem or condition which drags on the first thing the human nature does is to look for the cause by others. This is normal but bad behaviour.

When this system would be different I...*

Let me tell you; you could be right. It could be really that way. But that's not the point. It is something you can't actively influence. What people often overlook is the process of searching for the actual, real problem.

Often the first condition or cause is not revealing the real problem you have with something or someone.

What helps to solve this dilemma is to ask questions. Sounds weird? Allow me to show you what I mean.

I will present some often used answers, and then let's have a closer look.

**1. The trending page is broken because often low-quality content is boosted by bots into this section and the valuable content is not getting the attention it deserves.**

First of all, let me say that this answer is in general not wrong.
But to give this answer a general scope is definitely wrong.
Why?

The question of quality is subjective. For you, posts on the trending page could be of low quality, but that doesn't mean it is exactly like that for everybody else.

When it is raining where you are than it is also raining for everybody else around you. But the judgment of quality is a subjective matter. Here the screenshot from the actual trending page.

Honestly, I can't say that one of them is of low quality. I will not say that I find everything interesting but of low quality? Hmm, I doubt that.

**My advise for this answer**: *Don't make your subjective opinion a law for everybody else and believe they think the same as you. Your opinion is just your opinion. It's highly precious but it's your opinion*. 

Let us move on to the second often read answer.

**2. Often authors are there with multiple posts.**

This reason is for me simple to defuse.
Where do you get the imagination from that an author can only be with one post on the trending page?

Same as before; You think that this should not be that way and this is totally fine. It's your right, and we have to respect that. But you can't give your opinion a general scope unless there is a law that says an author can only be with one post on the trending page. From what I know a law like that doesn't exist. It doesn't mean that this would solve some of the problems, but again, it's your opinion.

**My advise here**: *Again, don't give your opinion a general scope. An author can be with multiple posts on the trending page. Why not?*

Let me add something. This reasoning is a good example of hiding the actual meaning. I will come to that later.

The third often read answer and this is the most important one and includes every reason I mentioned before.

**3. All posts on the trending page are just boosted there with bid bots. How can this be good? It's says nothing about the quality of a post.**

It sounds similar to the first one but here the emphasis is not **boosted** not like in the first one **low-quality**

Here I have to elaborate a bit more.
You know much has to do with perception. How you see something or which perspective you are looking at.

Yes, most contributions are boosted into this section, and yes, they are getting the most exposure. The current trending page doesn't show the best, original, unique content what many people think should include me. It shows the posts, which fulfils the current parameters to get there. And this is which posts get high upvotes in a specif amount of time! And there the bid bots come in.

For me, the trending page is a section of advertised contributions. I think like that. To advertise in general is nothing wrong with. Our whole economy works with advertising. With that in mind, I can never be frustrated because I know it has nothing to do with the actual content. 

Here comes one problem. You see those people over and over again there, and you see the high pending rewards and can't believe that it is like that.

My question: **Would you think the same way when the trending page would always be filled with brands like Coca-Cola, Aidas, Nike, Redbull, Mc Donalds?**

I can imagine that it could be that you would not see it the same way as you maybe do now. And again I have to say that I'm not saying that it is for sure like that.

This is what I mean with perception. You perceive brands differently than normal people like you and me. 
By Brands, you could think: *Yes, they have the resources to advertise their articles on the trending page, because they want to generate sales or whatever.*

Look, maybe you even chose a different word. Advertise not boosted. 

So now you see people like yourself, no brand nothing special but they are always on the trending page. People like you and me. You perceive these people totally differently. And for that, you might judge differently. You start comparing yourself with them. Again I'm saying that it could, not that it is.

By those people, you don't see it as advertisement you see it as boosted, something evil. A tool which helps them to get there not because they deserve it because they have more resources. 

**STOP!**

Now we are coming closer friends.
Nike, Adidas, Redbull, Mc Donalds Coca-Cola have resources you don't have, but what if there are people here on Steemit who also have resources you don't have and are using them? People you are inwardly comparing with.

Could it be that your frustration is revealing a Problem **you have** and not the system? By the way, a system can have errors for sure and also the Steemit system is not water prove but let's focus on you.

**What is the real problem with the boosted trending page?**
Could it be that the real problem is that you don't have what those have? You don't have the resources to boost yourself up there and getting much more exposure maybe new readers, more upvotes, more comments, more followers?

So the real problem could not be low-quality posts, also not the authors there with multiple posts, also not that they are boosted in a system which allows that. No, the real problem with the trending page could be that you don't have the resources to get there. Or simply expressed: **You want what other people have!**And maybe you are trying to cover this with reasons which sound noble but are not your real problem.

We are moving in the area of greed and envy people.
People, these evil​ feelings​ already triggered wars in history. And we see some of them here.

The last decade the Ballon D'or(Highest award in professional football) went to only two players. Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo. What should other amazing players say? The system is unfair! Make it like this; **A player can't win the Ballon door in a row**.

Guys c'mon. It's not how it works. Those two players have skills and resources​ and are using​ them year after year. Both of them have the privilege two play in the best teams of the world. Imagine Lionel Messi even from his very beginning. Imagine he would have started by Borussia Dortmund for example, his career would have been different maybe he would never have gotten the Ballon D'or.

But it is like it is folks.

We have to accept that there will always be people who have something we don't have. But this doesn't make everything else unfair. And we are not getting a solution by always complaining and playing Steemit police. Instead, we should focus on that what we have, and how we can use it to make the best out of it. And people already proved that it works even without being a whale or dolphin.

Don't get me, wrong guys. As I said, in the beginning, I am not here to take a side. I am trying maybe to reveal the actual problem. I also believe that we need a more content-oriented trending page with different parameters. I believe that many things need to be improved. Also that it is neccessary when we see some grievances​ to bring the attention to that and to talk about it. But in a respectful way. 

The one you're complaining about doesn't even know you. Maybe. But you are wasting your energy. I want that you learn to enjoy your Steemit journey even there are many things lacking or people not playing right in your opinion or maybe really.

Maybe you came here and you thought that everyone has the same chance of earning money. Then you realize that it isn't that way and you become bitter. Let's change how we perceive things here on this platform for your own good. Let's take what we have and this is in every case different an move on.

**Winning from the pole position is an advantage but it's not a story. Starting from far behind and then having​ a pole position is a way ​better story. And I believe that it is possible.**
