<p>If you didn't qualify...simple you don't write the exam. Well that's what most tertiary institutions hope...A friend of mine who is a lecture came to me with a request for a <b>“Fingerprint scanner which enrolls and authenticate students then takes a picture and uploads it to Dropbox”</b></p>

<h4>Features and operation:</h4>
<ul style="list-style-type:square">
<li>Prototype is built around an Arduino YUN (AVR microcontroller with LINUX) which is connected to the internet via Wifi.</li> 
<li>Two fingerprint modes: “Enrolling” new users and “Search” to authenticate existing users.</li> 
<li>Two options to monitor activities: FTDI sending all activities to the computer through serial communication during Enrolling mode and LCD during authentication mode</li> 
<li>Camera drivers are installed through Linux into the YUN. During authentication and finger print matched, camera takes a user picture. Picture is converted to Dropbox Base64 encoding using a Python script and picture is then uploaded to Dropbox with all the authentication done on Temboo.</li> 
<li>Servo motor (representing a boom gate) opens when authentication is granted and after the picture has been upload to Dropbox.</li> 
<li> ATmega controls the fingerprint reader and LCD</li>
</ul>

<p>This design can be used to to authenticate students writing exams and grant them access if they qualified. The picture is uploaded in real time to Dropbox with a timestamp/student number</p>
