How To Build A Cardboard Boat aka Fun With Kiddo

My seven year-old nephew is my universe, and I do my best to spend as much time with him as possible. It has been raining for the past two days, but we made the most of it and built a cardboard boat should the water get too high. We often build forts together, so there were plenty of boxes from forts past stacked in his room.


<center><h1>How To Build A Cardboard Boat</h1></center>
<center>Equipment
2 large storage boxes
1 roll of Gorilla Tape (or duck tape, if you prefer. I just find that Gorilla tape holds better)
Exacto-blade.
Marker

Steps:
1. Cut the boxes at one of the corners to open the box up as one long piece.
2. Draw the shape of the boat that you desire onto the cardboard.
3. Use the exacto-blade to cut the shape out and trim the box flaps off, saving the flaps.
4. Use the shape from the first cutout to use as a pattern for your second box.
5. Flip the patterns upside down so that you are working on the bottom of the boat. 
6. Line the ends of the leftover box flaps with a strip of tape, leaving excess hanging off for attachment.
7. Affix each flap lengthwise across the bottom of the boat, folding the excess tape over the bottom of the boat.
 This helps give the boat shape and stability.
8. When you have the bottom put in, flip the boat over and start working from the top.
9. Shape the front by bringing the two front pieces together and holding with a piece of tape.</center>

10. Keep shaping the front of the boat, this time putting the tape on the inside to hold it together.
11. Tape two flaps end to end on the inside front of the boat, to protect the nose and provide support. 
12. Use remaining flaps for the bottom of the boat to fill in the gaps.
13. Fill with pillows and blankets.
14. Enjoy!</center>
